The Order of Guardians (Monks) in Miraculous

The Order of Guardians, also known as the Guardian Monks of the Miraculous, is an ancient organization responsible for protecting the Miraculous, the Kwamis, and the knowledge of their powers. For centuries, its members have dedicated their lives to training, discipline, and preserving the balance between Creation and Destruction.

Guardians' Functions

• Protect the Miraculous Boxes.
• To choose worthy holders for each Miraculous.
• To teach the rules and responsibilities of using jewelry.
• Take care of the Kwamis and ensure they are not used for evil.
• To prevent dangerous people from obtaining the Miraculous.

The Temple of the Guardians

The Guardians live in a hidden temple in the mountains of Tibet. There, various Miraculous Boxes, ancient scrolls, and records about the history of the Kwamis and the Miraculous are preserved.

Master Fu

Wang Fu, known as Master Fu, was the last surviving Guardian for many years. As an apprentice, he made a grave mistake: he recklessly used the Peacock Miraculous, creating a sentimonster that destroyed the temple and caused the apparent death of the other Guardians. After this accident, Fu spent over a century hiding and protecting the Chinese Box.

Later, he chose Marinette Dupain-Cheng and Adrien Agreste as the bearers of Ladybug and Black Cat.

Su Han

After the Guardians' Order returns, Su Han arrives in Paris to investigate Master Fu and the new Guardians. Initially, he believes Marinette is too young to be a Guardian, but after learning about her actions, he comes to trust her and offers her support.

The New Guardian

After Master Fu loses his memories due to the Guardians' magic, Marinette Dupain-Cheng inherits the Chinese Box and the title of Guardian of the Miraculous. From that moment on, she distributes the Miraculous to other heroes, protects the Kwamis, and makes important decisions to maintain balance and prevent the Miraculous from falling into evil.

The story of Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir.

In Paris, two magical jewels known as the Ladybug Miraculous and the Black Cat Miraculous are entrusted by Master Fu, the last Guardian of the Miraculous Box, to students Marinette Dupain-Cheng and Adrien Agreste. With the help of the Kwamis Tikki and Plagg, they transform into the heroes Ladybug and Cat Noir, vowing to protect the city from any threat.

Meanwhile, the famous fashion designer Gabriel Agreste, Adrien's father, finds the Butterfly and Peacock Miraculous. Using Nooroo's power, he becomes Hawk Moth (later Shadow Moth and Monarch), sending akumas to transform people dominated by negative emotions into supervillains. His true goal is to steal the Ladybug and Black Cat Miraculous to fulfill an Absolute Wish, believing it will bring his wife, Émilie Agreste, back to life.

While facing a new akumatized villain almost every day, Marinette and Adrien must hide their secret identities, deal with school, friendships, romances, and personal challenges. Throughout the story, several friends temporarily receive Miraculous powers, forming a team of heroes to help Ladybug.

The plot also reveals the existence of the Order of the Guardians, other Miraculous Boxes scattered around the world, and the true power of the magical jewels. After losing his memories, Master Fu passes the title of Guardian to Marinette, who assumes the responsibility of protecting all the Miraculous.

In the most recent events of the series, Gabriel finally manages to reunite the Miraculous of the Ladybug and the Black Cat and makes the Wish, rewriting part of reality. He sacrifices his own life to bring Émilie back (or restore balance depending on the price of the Wish), while Marinette decides to hide the truth about Gabriel from the public to preserve Adrien's memory. With Gabriel defeated, a new threat emerges from the shadows, indicating the mission of the Miraculous holders.

• ⚫⚪ Ladybug + Black Cat: When united, they grant the supreme power of Creation and Destruction. According to legend, whoever unites these two Miraculous can make an Absolute Wish, capable of rewriting reality, but always demanding an equivalent price to maintain the balance of the universe.

The Miraculous Box

The Miraculous Box is a magical artifact created by the Order of Guardians to store and protect the Miraculous when they are not in use. Each box belongs to a Guardian, who is responsible for choosing the wearers of the jewels and ensuring they do not fall into the wrong hands.

How it works

• Keep the Miraculous in their own compartments.
• It serves as a home for the Kwamis when they are not attached to a holder. Only the Guardian or someone authorized can safely distribute and collect the Miraculous. The box may change its appearance when a new Guardian inherits it, reflecting their personality and role.

The Chinese Box

It is the most important box in the series, known as the Mother Box. It contains the Miraculous of the Ladybug, Black Cat, Fox, Turtle, Bee, Butterfly, Peacock, and other Miraculous of the Chinese zodiac. Initially, it was protected by Master Fu and later passed to Marinette Dupain-Cheng, who became the new Guardian.

World of the Kwamis

Inside the Box exists a magical dimension, a universe of its own where the Kwamis live when their Miraculous are not being used. They can talk, rest, and remain protected in this place until they are summoned again.

Other Boxes

The Order of Guardians possesses several Miraculous Boxes scattered throughout the world. Each one contains different Miraculous, linked to the culture of its region, such as the Native American Box, presented in the New York special.

Miraculous Powers (explained)

• 🪲 Ladybug (Tikki) – Creation: The user can summon an object with the Lucky Charm, which is always the key to resolving the situation. After purifying an akuma or amok, they use the Miraculous Ladybug to restore all the damage caused by the battle.

• 🐈 Black Cat (Plagg) – Destruction: Grants Cataclysm, a touch that destroys, weakens, or disintegrates virtually any object. It also greatly increases the user's agility and reflexes.

• 🦊 Fox (Trixx) – Illusion: Allows you to create realistic illusions of people, objects, or scenarios. The illusions can deceive sight and hearing, but they have no physical matter.

• 🐢 Turtle (Wayzz) – Protection: Creates a huge energy shield called Shell-ter, capable of protecting people and blocking very powerful attacks.

• 🐝 Bee (Pollen) – Action: Uses Venom, which completely paralyzes the target with a single touch for a few minutes.

• 🦋 Butterfly (Nooroo) – Transmission: Allows you to grant superpowers to other people through enchanted butterflies (akumas), usually fueled by the target's emotions.

• 🦚 Peacock (Duusu) – Emotion: Creates sentimonsters, magical beings born from a person's emotions and controlled by an object called amok.

The Kwamis in Miraculous

The Kwamis are small, magical, and immortal creatures that represent universal concepts such as Creation, Destruction, Illusion, and Protection. Each Kwami is linked to a specific Miraculous and grants powers to its wearer.

When a wearer uses a Miraculous and utters the transformation phrase, the Kwami enters the jewel and allows the person to transform into a hero or heroine. To undo the transformation, one simply needs to say the return phrase. After using the Miraculous's special power, the Kwami becomes tired and needs to eat its favorite food to regain its strength.
