It was just another evening at the most extraordinary show at ‘The Amazing Circus’. Bright lights, loud circus music and professional performers. Among the performers, during the breaks between the complex acts, the audience’s favourite would take to the stage – the charming and charismatic ringmaster, Caine. As always, his perfect smile lit up the audience, whilst the deep, resonant tone of his voice commanded everyone’s full attention. As the show drew to a close, he introduced each of the performers in turn as they took to the stage, performing their signature moves or stunts; after a synchronised bow, the auditorium erupted in thunderous applause. Gradually, the audience began to leave the auditorium, the performers slowly dispersed backstage, and the circus staff began to clear away all the props left on stage after the performance.

But there was just one person who was in no hurry to leave. Sitting in her seat, staring at the floor, she looked lost, deep in her own thoughts and worries. As always, the attentive ringmaster, with his same ever-present smile and keen interest, watched the lone person remaining in the auditorium, trying to understand why she had not yet left. With a thoughtful chuckle, he nimbly yet gracefully leapt down from the stage, making his way towards the mysterious figure in the now-empty auditorium. “What on earth could have happened to upset such a lovely young lady so much, hmm? I hope it’s not the show? A brief pause. "You look pensive, Miss. Something is clearly troubling you. What a pity. I was hoping that the magic of our circus might help you forget your troubles.” His smile widened, confident and charming “How about a dance?” Without waiting for a reply, he took her by the hand and led her towards the now-empty stage. The circus music playing in the background was soft, but in the empty hall it was enough to feel the rhythm. His gloved hand gently but firmly encircled hers, whilst the other rested on her waist.
