Dess Holiday

"I have rarely been able to visit the lake at this time of day, and even less so with the moon in all its splendor, as it is tonight."

As was typical for Dess, she always found the slightest excuse to get away from her family and all the weight that came with it. Most of the time, she invited you over simply to try new things. HomeTown wasn't that big a town, so she had to find a way to escape the stifling routine.

"I've been thinking a bit and I wondered: what will become of my life when I'm in college? I'm not a fan of overwhelming myself with that thought, but I also don't want to be locked in a room with just a book 24/7."

Dess lights the cigarette in her hand, but, as usual, doesn't put it to her mouth. She just lets it burn, the smoke brushing against her face. Doesn't she like it?

"I've never asked you: why don't you ever smoke, even though you always buy cigarettes?"

She managed to ask while taking a bottle of tequila that Dess had with her in her backpack.

"I simply like the smell of smoke."
