The relationship between the Holiday family and the Dreemurrs 2
A united children's quartet. Children without distinctions between "us" and "them": Asriel, Dess, Chris, and Noelle were inseparable. The older ones (Asriel and Dess) were leaders and together looked after the younger ones. The younger ones (Chris and Noelle) were their constant playmates. Forest adventures: Their parents calmly let the foursome wander into the deep forest behind the city cemetery. Asgore, as the police sheriff, knew that the older children would always protect the younger ones, and Dess with her bat and Asriel with his responsibility would prevent Chris from terrorizing the timid Noelle too much.
the relationship between the Holiday family and the Dreemurr family
Merging Two Houses. Doors Without Locks: The Dreemurr and Holiday houses were adjacent, and the children migrated between them throughout the day. Toriel baked pies for the entire group, and Rudy Holiday could easily pop into the Dreemurr kitchen to steal a treat or discuss the latest news. Shared Traditions: The families celebrated absolutely every important occasion together. They organized large picnics outdoors, gathered for Sunday church services, went on hikes together, and celebrated Christmas in a boisterous manner. The Holiday family's festive atmosphere perfectly complemented the Dreemurr home atmosphere. Asgore and Rudy's Brotherly Friendship. "Buddy for Life": The foundation of this relationship was the incredibly strong friendship between Asgore and Rudy, which had lasted since their college days. They constantly teased each other, laughed loudly for the whole neighborhood to hear, and shared their deepest secrets. Dreams of a Family: Asgore and Rudy loved each other so much as friends that they sincerely dreamed of officially becoming related. Rudy constantly teased Asriel, calling him "son-in-law," and he and Asgore seriously planned Asriel and Dess's future wedding when they grew up. Toriel and Carol: Mutual Respect. Two Strong Women: The mothers' relationship was more reserved, but very respectful. Strict, disciplined Carol (the future mayor) valued Toriel for her wisdom, kindness, and authority in the church community. Toriel, for her part, saw Carol as a strong woman who kept the whole household in check. They often collaborated to raise their children and cope with the wild ideas of their cheerful husbands.
The Holiday Family
The Holiday family was the most influential, fun-loving, and strong family in Hometown. Their home was a vibrant place, with the parents' authority combined with the children's wild energy. This is what the Holiday family was like during that golden age: A house full of life and laughter. A perfect balance of parents: The family was ruled by a vibrant duo. The father, Rudy, was the life of the party—a loud, cheerful monster who loved to joke, throw parties, and spoil his daughters. The mother, Carol, was strict, collected, and ambitious. Her iron discipline perfectly balanced Rudy's gentle nature. Thanks to her character and the respect of the townspeople, she confidently ascended to the post of mayor. A healthy and happy Rudy: Rudy Holiday was full of strength and health back then. He wasn't confined to a hospital ward on IV drips, but actively participated in city life, constantly playing in the backyard with his daughters and hosting barbecues. Two completely different, yet inseparable sisters. The older sister protects the younger: There was never a moment of silence in the Holiday household. The feisty, loud Dess and the timid, quiet Noelle complemented each other perfectly. Dess was the family's main shield: she made sure no one bullied her younger sister and took all the stern scolding from her mother, protecting Noelle. Holiday Atmosphere: The Holiday family (whose name translates as "Holiday") lived up to their name. They adored Christmas and the winter atmosphere. The house was always decorated, Dess played the acoustic guitar, Rudy sang, and Noelle helped her mother with the holiday decorations.
The Dreemurr Family
The Dreemurrs were a model, boisterous, and happiest family in Hometown. Their home always smelled of freshly baked goods, and the doors were never locked to friends. This is what the Dreemurrs were like during that golden age: Toriel and Asgore's happy marriage. A home full of love: Toriel and Asgore were truly in love and lived together in a large, cozy house. They were the life and soul of the community: Asgore led the police and tended the town's flowers, while Toriel baked her famous pies and led Sunday school. Drama-free parenting: Harmony reigned in the family. Toriel hadn't yet become the anxious single mother who overprotected Chris out of fear of losing her last child. And Asgore wasn't a sad recluse living in a flower shop closet. They raised their sons together and were each other's support system. Ideal Brothers: Azriel and Chris. An Inseparable Duo: The elder Azriel and the younger Chris were best friends. Azriel, a well-liked, straight-A student, and the life of the party, never abandoned his strange and silent younger brother. He took him with him everywhere. An Atmosphere of Understanding: Azriel did everything he could to ensure Chris didn't feel like an outsider, being the only human among monsters. When Chris wore his toy horns, Azriel supported him, and on Halloween, they shared a costume. Chris wasn't a withdrawn loner because Azriel always protected him from any adversity or fear of the dark.
Noelle Holiday
Noelle was the most tender, timid, and sincere child in town, whose childhood was filled with absolute comfort thanks to her family and friends. This is what she was like during that golden age: A "professional" coward: Noelle was afraid of literally everything. She was terrified to tears by the ICE-E mascot, the dark, thunderstorms, and any rustling noise. Because of this, she was constantly the victim of Chris's creepy pranks, who hid under her bed and grabbed her legs. But she never held a grudge against him and considered him her best friend. A protective little sister: Noelle's fears never turned into injuries because Dess was always there. Her older sister was her personal superhero: she would immediately run over with a plastic bat and beat Chris up for his scary jokes. In the evenings, Dess would wrap Noelle in a blanket and watch horror movies with her, hugging her during the scary moments. Back then, horror movies were a symbol of absolute safety for Noelle. Daddy's favorite: The Holiday household was filled with joy and laughter because her father, Rudy, was completely healthy. He was Noelle's main source of warmth, constantly pampering her, joking, and protecting her from her mother's (Carol) strict rules. They spent hours together studying, preparing Noelle for school competitions. An obedient straight-A student with secrets: Noelle grew up as a perfect, modest girl who never broke the rules and obeyed her elders unquestioningly. But secretly from her strict mother, under Dess's influence, she adored mysticism. Together, they posted stories about "tracking a monster" in the woods to fan sites. Part of an inseparable quartet: Every weekend, Noelle was incredibly happy. She, Dess, Chris, and Azriel would all run off in a huge group for walks in the woods behind the city cemetery. Azriel always looked after little Noelle just as much as Dess did, and she felt like part of one big, loving, and cheerful family.
Chris Dreemurr
Chris was an odd, but very happy and devoted child. This is what he was really like: A big jokester: Chris loved to fool around and play pranks on people. He constantly scared Noelle—hiding under her bed, spilling ketchup on her sheets while pretending to be injured, or lying about his hand getting sucked into the sink. He was known in town as the town's leading trickster. Vulnerable and shy: Being the only human among the monsters, Chris had a strong insecurity. He sincerely waited for horns to grow and wore a headband with red plastic horns for years to fit in with his family. A coward who trusted his brother: Chris was terrified of the dark. Because of this, he often ran to Asriel's bed to sleep. He felt completely safe with his brother. An avid gamer: Every Saturday, Chris blossomed. He and Azriel would run to the library, play fighting games for hours, and co-create the plot for their own video game. Lively and emotional, Chris could smile sincerely, enjoy picnics with his parents, and happily walk in the woods with Dess, Noelle, and his brother, even when Dess would playfully beat him with a bat for his misbehavior.
LET ME REMIND YOU THAT CHRIS IS THE ONLY PERSON IN THE CITY OF HOMETOWN
Asriel's relationship with the Holiday Family
Relationship with the Holiday family: Before the tragedy, Azriel spent as much time at the Holiday house as he did at his own. With Dess (First Love and Best Friend): Dess was his age and the closest person outside of his family. They were inseparable: they walked in the woods together, made plans together. Dess's father, Rudy, openly called Azriel "son-in-law" and constantly joked that he couldn't wait for their wedding. After Dess's disappearance, Azriel withdrew, and the loss left a deep emotional scar. It is known that a T-shirt they wore in turn still sits in Dess's closet. With Noelle (Big Brother Replacement): For little Noelle, Azriel was like a second big brother. When Dess wasn't around, he looked after Noelle, protected her from Chris's creepy pranks, and helped her cope with her fears. It was Asgore and Rudy who planned to send Noelle and Asriel to the spelling bee together. Noelle still remembers Asriel with great fondness and considers him the kindest monster in the world. With Rudy and Carol: Rudy treated Asriel like his own son, always welcoming him warmly and sharing secrets with him. Even the strict Mayor Carol singled out Asriel among the other children for his politeness and academic achievement.
Asriel Dreemurr
Personality, Habits, and Talents: Everyone's Favorite: Asriel grew up as the perfect child—kind, polite, cheerful, and very helpful. The whole town adored him. School and Church Star: He was a straight-A student, the best player on the local soccer team, and the lead singer in the church choir. His room was filled with trophies and awards. Gamer: Asriel loved video games. He and Chris shared a PlayStation in their room, and they would constantly play the fighting game Super Smashing Fighters at the local library. Asriel always chose the character with green lizards (a reference to Yoshi). Religious: He sincerely believed in the local religion of Angel. As a child, he even worried about not being able to grow angel wings. Conservationist: Noelle recalls that Asriel was madly in love with collecting snails and cared for every single one. Relationships within the Dreemurr Family. Ideal Older Brother: For Chris, Asriel was his main guide to the world and his best friend. When Chris was withdrawn, Asriel was always there. On Halloween, he even wore a headband with antlers so Chris (the only human in a family of monsters) wouldn't feel like an outsider. Beloved son: Toriel is incredibly proud of Asriel; her phone is filled with his photos. Asgore also dotes on him and treasures his school drawings. A difficult departure: When Asriel left for college, Chris fell into a deep depression, and Toriel locked his room, leaving it untouched, missing him so much. Chris is still waiting for his return, which is expected at the end of the week.
Dess's relationship with the Dreemurr family
The Dreemurrs lived next door, and before the tragedy, the two families were practically inseparable. Sharing holidays, picnics, and watching TV together were common. With Asriel (Special Bond): Asriel was her best friend and the same age. They spent all their free time together. Dess's father, Rudy, constantly teased Asriel, calling him his "future son-in-law," and openly stated that he dreamed of their marriage when they grew up. They had a strong bond, and Dess even had a T-shirt with Asriel and Chris in her closet. With Chris (Older Sister and Mean Little Brother): Chris was the one who got into trouble with Dess the most because of his creepy pranks and his habit of hiding under Noelle's bed. Dess regularly "disciplined" Chris with her bat. Despite this, Chris genuinely loved her and considered her an authority figure. In the Dark World, Chris subconsciously searches for things that remind him of her (for example, the "Square Shield," which resembles an old record from the Holiday household). With Toriel and Asgore: For the older Dreemurrs, Dess was like a second daughter. They cared for her as much as they did their own children. Asgore still remembers with deep sadness those happy times when the children would all run off to play together in the woods behind the town cemetery.
Dess Holiday
Personality, Habits, and Talents: Noelle's complete opposite: While Noelle grew up timid and fearful, Dess was fearless, loud, and always ready for an adventure. Main Weapon: Dess's signature item was a sports bat (toy or plastic). She carried it with her everywhere and used it when justice needed to be done. Musical Gift: She played the acoustic guitar beautifully. The guitar arrangement of the Lost Girl theme (Noelle's theme) in the game files is directly related to Dess. Interest in Mysticism: As a child, she encouraged Noelle to post a story on a hobby website about how they supposedly tracked a "cryptid" (a local monster) in the woods. Crafts: She and her sister attended a church craft club, where they sewed an angel out of purple fabric with a creepy face. Chris still remembers how they did it. Relationships within the Holiday family. Protecting her younger sister: Dess was Noelle's biggest protector. When Chris scared little Noelle with stories about the ICE-E mascot eating children, Dess would immediately run up with a bat and beat Chris until he begged for mercy. Formation of Noelle's tastes: It was thanks to Dess that Noelle developed a love of horror films. Dess would sit her sister next to her and watch scary movies with her, hugging her so she wouldn't be scared. Now, horror films are Noelle's fondest memory of her sister. Relationship with parents: Dess was the favorite of her father, the cheerful Rudy. Her relationship with her mother, Carol (the town mayor), was more complicated—Carol's strict and cold control often clashed with Dess's rebellious nature. Dess's only surviving line of dialogue comes from a children's poem, where she cheerfully tells her sister, "Hey, look, Ellie! Yours has even more hidden down there!"
Prompt
At the time, Asriel and Dess were not in a relationship, but Toriel and Rudy often joked that they looked like a bride and groom.
