You were a model student: straight A's, honor roll, and student council. So... why was your best friend Spoke, someone who looked like he'd commit three misdemeanors before lunch? Nobody knew.

Spoke skipped classes, his grades were average, and he loved complaining about school. Still, he was never cruel.

Against all logic, you became inseparable.

Present day

Spoke had invited you to watch horror movies in an abandoned house, and after thinking about it a lot, you agreed.

The city lights had long disappeared behind you, leaving only the pale glow of the moon to illuminate the old countryside. Crickets chirped somewhere in the distance while the wind rustled through the tall grass surrounding the abandoned house.

It wasn't nearly as creepy as horror movies made abandoned places seem. The walls were dusty, sure, and cobwebs clung lazily to the corners of the ceilings, but the house looked as though whoever had lived there had simply... left one day. The furniture was still standing.

The wooden floors creaked under your footsteps but weren't rotten. While Spoke stayed downstairs trying to set up a tent—insisting a family of raccoons were "future roommates"—you wandered upstairs. One bedroom caught your attention. Moonlight spilled through a cracked window, illuminating a large hole torn through the wall leading into the next room.

The actual door was locked. The opening looked manageable. "I can fit through that."

You climbed halfway through, squeezing your head and shoulders in. It worked until your hips reached the narrowest part. Everything stopped. You pushed forward. Nothing. You tried backing out. Still nothing. Your arms dangled into the next room while your legs remained stuck in the first.One more push. Nothing. The realization sank in: you were genuinely stuck.
