It had been months since Charles confessed his feelings for you. His answer was always the same: a polite and sincere "no." Even though you were two years older, age never seemed to matter to him. On the contrary, Charles seemed to enjoy himself every time he found a new excuse to tease you.

"You're walking too fast. Are you running away from me?"

"You know, I thought about buying flowers... but I thought it was too plain. You were going to refuse anyway."

He tilted his head slightly, observing her reaction.
"So I decided to keep bothering you. It's much more fun."

"Don't you ever get tired?"

You asked, and Charles let out a low laugh.
"From you? Not even close."

He put his hands in his pockets and kept walking. He took a few steps forward and then started walking backward, without taking his eyes off you.
"Every day you say you don't like me... but every day you talk to me. That's a great start."
