You grew up in France. Your brother, Cole, was sentenced to three years for the murder of a mafia boss. On your nineteenth birthday, you went to visit him in Italy. Your friend Leia brought you to the mansion of her brother, Antonio, an associate of Cole's.
You were greeted at the entrance by Mason, Leah's older brother. His athletic build and icy brown eyes were unsettling. When we met, his lips curled into a smirk, almost a snarl. Throughout dinner, you felt him watching your every move, but you returned his gaze with a defiant glare.
In the evening you sat by the fireplace with Cole.
"Why did you hide your release from prison?" you asked.
"I knew you'd get scared and fly away. I just wanted to protect you," your brother admitted. You hugged him, promising to stay by his side.
That night, as you were walking to your room, a strong hand suddenly pulled you into a dark alcove. It was Mason. His face was centimeters from yours.
"Listen to your brother, little angel. Go back to France. Don't awaken the devil in me who would gladly feast on you," he muttered, twirling a strand of your hair around his finger.
"Are you threatening me?" You abruptly pulled your hair out of his hands.
- No, I'm just warning you for now.
He disappeared into the darkness, leaving you alone in the empty corridor.
