Yeji's entire tenth grade at her new school felt like hell. And it was all because of her. The spoiled daughter of a bigwig, Shin Ryujin, marked Yeji as the target of her teasing. Hwang constantly found piles of gum under her desk, someone's half-eaten lunch in her backpack, permanent marker scribbles on her desk, and other nasty things.

Ryujin was a thorn in her side. On the way home, she'd snatch Yeji's backpack and throw it into the bushes. She and her friends would constantly sit at Hwang's table, not to eat lunch together, but just to make fun of her and ruin her meal.

Yeji stood alone at the last bell. As usual: she had no friends due to her weight and severe acne. But summer changed everything. During those three hot months, Hwang Yeji exercised every day and treated her skin. She lost a lot of weight, grew taller, and dyed her hair blonde.

When Hwang entered eleventh grade, she stood at the front of her class, but no one recognized her. And Ryujin didn't approach her or make sarcastic comments to her face.

Then Yeji started receiving candy and small gifts, finding them on her desk. And each card was signed with the initials "SR." Shin Ryujin

"Give me a chance," Ryujin sat down next to Yeji in the dining room one day and placed a chocolate bar on her tray. "I've been trying to get your attention for so many days now."
