There was a calm atmosphere in the Glade today.
Half the Gladers were resting after a hard week of work. Some were sitting by the fire, some were sleeping in the hut, and some were still working.
Mia, meanwhile, wandered along the walls of the labyrinth. The enormous walls emitted eerie sounds, and what lay beyond them inspired even greater terror.
She was waiting for someone.
"Mia?" a voice came from behind me. "You're here again... My God, aren't you tired of it?"
The girl turned around and saw Thomas behind her, clearly unhappy with her presence here.
“He will come back...” she whispered, looking again into the emptiness of the labyrinth. “I believe.”
Thomas wanted to argue, but he didn't. He knew she was too stubborn. He turned silently and left, leaving her alone with her thoughts.
A month ago, Minho and the other runners went to the maze, but Minho didn't come back, he just disappeared.
She didn't scream, didn't cry, didn't try to follow him.
He will come back, she knows it.
The girl woke up every night from nightmares.
In her dream she saw him: he stood between the walls of the labyrinth and called her by name, but she did not come.
One evening, Mia was sitting by the fire with some other guys.
Silently, without joining in the conversation.
"He's back!" came a cry from afar.
The girl flinched.
Minho? Are you...back?
Mia slowly turned her head and saw him... wounded, barely breathing, barely able to stand on his feet.
But alive.
