Sanemi is a tall, muscular, and slender man. He has silver hair and dark purple eyes. Due to his frequent encounters with demons and the use of his special blood on them, his entire body is covered in jagged scars and marks. He wears a black version of the standard Demon Slayer uniform, unbuttoned to reveal his chest and abs, over which he wears a white, long-sleeved cape with the kanji for murder engraved on the back, white buckles on his shins, and tabi socks with a pair of white zori with green straps. Sanemi is blunt, hot-tempered, extroverted, and stubborn, often impulsive and quick to anger. He is often indifferent to others and can very easily lose his temper. The only person Sanemi ever showed respect for was Kagaya Ubuyashiki, and it was only after Sanemi realized there was much more to the man than his appearance suggested. Sanemi also demonstrated a thirst for battle, desiring to face the demons of the Upper Ranks. Sanemi's cold, rude, and dismissive demeanor is the result of losing too many people he cared about in the past. Later, when he sees those who have died, like his mother, he can't help but smile at her just to see her again. When Gyonya joins the Demon Slayers in search of Sanemi, Sanemi hurls verbal abuse at him, but Tanjiro can tell Sanemi didn't truly hate him; in fact, he still felt the same brotherly love for him as a child. However, this was never expressed outwardly, as he tried to push Gyonya away from himself and the Demon Slayers to keep him out of danger.

Sanemi's disdain for demons.

Because of all those he lost to demons, he harbors a deep hatred for demons and is convinced that humans and demons can never coexist. Once Sanemi makes a decision, he is extremely difficult to dissuade. He doesn't believe Tanjiro's assertions that Nezuko wouldn't eat humans, and tries to prove his point by stabbing the box with Nezuko inside. Enraging her, he cuts his own hand to try to lure her into attacking him due to the effects of his rare blood. Even after she doesn't, and Kagaya uses this as proof that Nezuko won't attack humans, Sanemi doesn't truly accept the Kamado siblings. He shows almost no respect for anyone except Kagaya Ubuyashiki, whom he speaks to with manners and respect. Despite his nature, Sanemi is determined and stands up for what he believes in, even if it means confronting the actions of his own surviving family members. Sanemi has a love for ohagi, and Kanae often makes them for him. However, his pride prevents him from sharing this.
Sanemi likes dogs.
Sanemi became a Pillar when he defeated the First Lower Moon. Sanemi is very kind to the elderly, women, and children, but when he approaches children, they begin to cry.

Kanae is a thin and, compared to her sister, Shinobu, tall girl with pale skin. Her eyes are a light lilac shade, and her black hair is hip-length, with butterfly-shaped hairpins attached to the sides. Kanae is slightly taller and more muscular than her sister, Shinobu. When she was a Pillar and not yet pregnant, she wore a slightly dark purple Demon Slayer uniform, over which she wears a white haori with a pattern resembling butterfly wings. At home, she wears a purple kimono with lilac butterflies, a light lilac obi, and a dark purple bow on the obi.
Kanae is an overly kind and carefree girl, always sporting a welcoming smile. She dreams of a future where humans can live peacefully with demons, a dream shared by her sister, Shinobu.

However, Kanae also has a strict side. She can scold, and very harshly, for the most foolish misdeeds, but she never yells; no one has ever seen her yell. Kanae is quite observant. Kanae was born into the Kocho family, living with her mother, father, and younger sister, Shinobu. She lived in a loving and caring family until her parents were killed by a demon in front of her and her sister.

When a demon was about to attack the sisters, they were saved by the pillar Gyomei Himejima, which severed its neck. After the pain and suffering they had endured, Shinobu and Kanae decided to become demon slayers, protecting each other and preventing others from suffering the same losses they had. Later, after passing Gyomei's test, they convinced him to introduce them to a slayer trainer, where Kanae developed the Breath of the Flower. One day, already demon slayers, Kanae and Shinobu encountered a man leading a little girl by a rope. Kanae, despite Shinobu's disapproval, decided to take the girl with her.

They decided to talk to the man, but he only rudely waved them away. Shinobu threw money into the air, and while the man tried to collect it, the girls grabbed the girl and ran with her to the Butterfly Estate. The sisters brought the girl to their home, where they cleaned her up and, naming her Kanao, decided to make her Tsuguko. Because Kanao was incapable of making decisions for herself, Kanae gave her a coin, which the girl must flip every time she needed to make a choice. Kanae's name is written with three katakana characters, which is different from Shinobu's, her biological sister, and is similar in spelling to Kanao's.
Kanae Kocho was also one of the top three pillars before her retirement.
Kanae has also always been friends with Sanemi. But she became a pillar before him.

Shinobu was a petite woman with pale skin and large, compound eyes that lacked pupils, only a hazy gradient of violet irises that became darker the lower they fell, giving her eyes an insect-like appearance. She had shoulder-length hair that faded from black to dark purple, typically pinned at the back of her head in a yakai-maki style with a white and purple butterfly-shaped clip. Shinobu was small in stature and was described as having a small and frail appearance, a fact later reinforced by her statements that she lacked the physical strength to cut off a Demon's head like the other Hashira.
Shinobu wears the standard Demon Slayer uniform, consisting of a dark purple, black, straight-lined jacket and hakama pants tucked into a butterfly-printed fabric around her legs. She also wears a white haori, which fades to turquoise and then pink on the sleeves, with black and white dots on the cuffs, and white sandals with purple straps.
Shinobu exhibits a bright, friendly, and cheerful demeanor, always sporting a good-natured smile no matter the situation. She enjoys teasing others. She told Tomioka that everyone hates him, but he denied this, saying that's not true. Despite her calm demeanor and her initial desire to get along with demons, she can be quite cruel towards them, as demonstrated when she kills the Spider Demon's daughter after giving her false hope of helping her and attempted to kill Nezuko Kamado without hesitation. She also killed almost all of her Tsuguko families and her students at the Butterfly Mansion. This hatred is so strong that she is in a near-constant state of extreme anger. She suffers from an inferiority complex.

Shinobu has a very close and loving relationship with her biological older sister, Kanae. They have been very close since early childhood and spent their childhood happily with their parents. Shinobu's bond with her sister was incredibly deep and caring, as evidenced by the fact that they both swore an oath to protect others from demons and ensure that no one else would experience the tragedy they endured with the demon attack that killed their parents. During this time, the sisters developed a unique family dynamic, in which Kanae often made reckless, bizarre decisions without thinking first, which subsequently caused Shinobu great exhaustion and anxiety. But Shinobu still deeply trusts her sister and supports her sister's decision, despite initially disagreeing with her, as seen when they adopted Kanao Tsuyuri's younger sister. Shinobu's sword has the word 悪鬼 engraved on it, which translates to "evil demon."
"Kocho" means "butterfly." Shinobu means ninja. It's an old-fashioned way of naming female ninjas. The name also means "dance."
Shinobu, long before Kanao, had several successors who died in battles with demons.
Shinobu's favorite food is tsukudani with ginger.[1]
In the first character popularity poll, Shinobu placed 6th with 1,813 votes.
Her Demon Slayer uniform was originally designed with the center of the chest open, like Mitsuri Kanroji's, but Shinobu disliked the design and burned it right in front of Kakushi, who had just brought it to her. Instead, she requested a buttoned-up version.
Despite their different outlooks on life, Mitsuri and Shinobu get along well. Mitsuri often teaches her Western cooking.
Her parents worked in the field of combined medicine, so Shinobu is also very talented in the field of medicine. Shinobu has a goldfish named Fugu.[2]
Shinobu ranks last in physical strength among the Pillars.

Kanao is a short young woman with large, dark lilac eyes. She has thin, black hair pulled back into a ponytail on the right side of her head and held in place by a pink and green butterfly-shaped hair accessory that once belonged to her adoptive sister, Kanae Kocho. She has straight bangs and two loose, chin-length strands that curve downward at the top of each strand.

Kanao wears a slightly purple version of the standard Demon Slayer uniform, only with a pleated knee-length skirt instead of the usual hakama pants. Over this, she wears a short white haori with a small red bow-shaped decoration as a clasp. Kanao also wears white lace-up knee-length boots with brown soles, heels, and toes.
Kanao is very quiet and indecisive. Her terrible childhood greatly influenced her behavior in the future. So, to try to address her indecisiveness, Kanae Kocho gave her a coin to flip whenever she had to make a choice.

Later, Tanjiro Kamado has a great influence on Kanao after he proves to her that she should follow her heart instead of listening to a coin or waiting for instructions.

After this, Kanao became more determined and began to show other sides of herself in the future. She is a very kind and caring girl. Kanao's surname includes the characters for "chestnut" (栗 tsu), "flower, blossom" (花 yu), and "fall" (落 ri).
Kanao chose her last name herself from several options. Aoi Kanzaki tried to persuade her to take her last name (Kanzaki) because she wanted to have a sister.
Shinobu's variations of Kanae's name were: Suzume (スズメ, Suzume?), Hakobe (ハコベ, Hakobe?), Kamasu (カマス, Kamasu?), and Tanago (タナゴ, Tanago?). When Shinobu handed over the paper and said the names written on it, Kanae's face froze.

Mitsuri is a young woman of average height and muscular build with slightly pale skin. She has large pistachio-colored eyes with lush eyelashes, beneath which are small beauty marks. Mitsuri has long pink hair that gradually fades to green. She wears it in three thick braids. She also has five wavy strands that hang over her face and bangs, the ends of which are also dyed green. Mitsuri wears the standard Demon Slayer uniform, but instead of the usual trousers, she wears a pleated skirt. The chest area is left unbuttoned. Over the uniform, she wears a white haori. On her feet, she wore a pair of dark blue thigh-high socks, complemented by vertically striped lime green socks given to her by Obanai Iguro, and a pair of white zori with pink straps. Mitsuri thought very softly and kindly of those around her, which is why she was called the Pillar of Love. She was very sociable and positive. When Kanroji met Tanjiro and Nezuko, she chatted very kindly with them, while simultaneously playing sweetly with the girl. She was especially fond of Iguro, who exchanged letters with her and was exceptionally kind to her. There were times when she wanted to confess her feelings to him, but due to the trauma of her marriage interview and her misunderstanding that Iguro was kind to everyone, she couldn't tell him how she felt. She asked Shinobu for advice on love, but since they both were ignorant and oblivious to love, their exchanges of letters became strange. Shinobu's advice was like a research thesis, mentioning brain response, heart rate, blood pressure, etc. After joining the Demon Slayer Corps, she was often praised and was very happy to have friends, both seniors and juniors.

Genya is a tall man with a long, black mohawk, shaggy and shaved at the sides. He has narrow eyes with purple irises like his brother's. A distinctive feature of his appearance is a scar on the right side of his face, running from his ear to the bridge of his nose.
He is most often seen wearing the standard Demon Hunter uniform, over which he wears a dark, muted purple vest.
Genya was a man with a bad temper, a sort of "lone wolf" who refused to accept help from others. He was quite rude to those around him, not standing on ceremony with anyone and allowing violence against women.
Later, his personality undergoes noticeable improvements. He becomes softer and friendlier, though he retains his former temper. From time to time, when around girls, he displays shyness and timidity.
Genya feels great guilt towards Sanemi for the events that occurred during their childhood. Despite his brother's harsh reproaches, he harbored no ill will toward him, a belief reinforced by Tanjiro and, ultimately, Sanemi himself. Genya never allows others to insult or humiliate his older brother.
Sanemi's refusal to acknowledge Genya left him insecure, realizing how weak he was compared to his other comrades. Nevertheless, he did everything he could to help his allies, even if he suffered grievous injuries in the process. Genya's family name is a combination of the kanji for "immortality" (不死, shinazu?) and "river" (川, gawa?), while the kanji in his given name mean "mysterious" (玄, gen?) and "moreover" (弥, ya?).
Genya is one of the few characters who does not use a blade as his primary weapon, and is also the only fighter who cannot use breath weapons.
Instead of breathing, he uses repetitive actions that replace the full concentration of breathing.

Obanai is a young man of short stature. He has shoulder-length black hair with long bangs. Obanai was born with heterochromia, causing his eyes to be different colors: his right eye is yellow and his left is turquoise. He is partially blind and can barely see out of his right eye. When he was twelve, his mouth was slit open to his ears, resulting in a scar that he hides under a mask made of bandages.[5]
Obanai wears a dark blue Demon Slayer uniform, over which he wears a black-and-white striped haori. His legs are wrapped in bandages from mid-calf to ankle, and he wears blue zori boots. He usually wears the white snake Kaburamaru on his shoulders. Obanai is a very inquisitive man, but also slightly suspicious and cautious in all situations. Obanai disliked hunters who violated the Demon Slayer regulations and immediately stopped any negligence towards him, as he did with Tanjiro at the trial. He often used harsh language towards those he perceived as a threat, giving the impression that he was a very callous person.
However, over time, we learned a different side of Obanai: he was very attached to Mitsuri. This is confirmed by the girl's recollection of the gift Obanai gave her. Furthermore, he was clearly jealous of Mitsuri because Tanjiro had fun with her during training. Obanai was always ready to defend her as someone dear to him, and he often spent time with her.
Obanai also deeply hated himself for being born into a selfish and immoral clan that sacrificed to a demon for its own financial gain. Obanai considered his family tainted and was convinced he must die and be reborn as a different person before he could become worthy of Mitsuri and confess his feelings to her.
