Most, if not all, of the known techniques and forms focus on purely offensive attacks, many of which employ rapid spinning movements to generate swift, whirlwind-like slashes, greatly extending the wielder's attack range. Practitioners of Wind Breathing visualize themselves as creating and manipulating the wind when unleashing their techniques. This breathing style bears similarities to real-life swordsmanship known as Jigen-ryū, a basic approach to Japanese swordsmanship that emphasizes the importance of the initial strike and elevated stances. Wind Breathing was developed by one of Yoriichi Tsugikuni's students, who attempted to learn Sun Breathing. However, due to his lower innate power compared to Yoriichi, they were taught an alternative, personalized breathing style that focused on their individual strengths and weaknesses, and which eventually evolved into Wind Breathing.

Second stance: Purifying Wind Claws (弐にノ型かた 爪そう々そう・科しな戸と風かぜ, Ni no kata: Sōsō - Shinato Kaze?)- The user raises the sword to the right, above his head, and simultaneously makes four vertical downward cuts, resembling claws as they descend upon the enemy. Third stance: Tree swinging in the air of Storm (参さんノ型かた 晴せい嵐らん風ふう樹じゅ, San no kata: Seiran Fūju?)- The user generates a whirlwind of cuts around him, allowing him to defend against incoming attacks and destroy his surroundings. Fourth stance: Rising Dust Storm (肆しノ型かた 昇しょう上じょう砂さ塵じん嵐らん, Shi no kata: Shōjō Sajinran?) - The user launches multiple whirlwind-shaped cuts from a low position, heading upwards, above their target. Fifth stance: Winter Gale (伍ごノ型かた 木こ枯がらし颪おろし, Go no kata: Kogarashi Oroshi?) - The user creates several arcing cuts in a circular shape that increase in size from a high position above their target.

Sixth Stance: Black Smoke Storm (陸ろくノ型かた黒こく風ふう烟えん嵐らん, Roku no kata: Kokufū Enran?) - The user rotates his body in an uppercut movement, producing an arcing slash. Seventh stance: Gale - Sudden Gust (漆しちノ型かた 頸けい風ふう・天てん狗ぐ風かぜ, Shichi no kata: Keifū - Tengu Kaze?) - The user leaps into the air while swinging their sword, generating hurricane-force winds that devastate their opponent. Eighth stance: First gale cut (捌はちノ型かた 初しょ烈れっ風かざ斬きり, Hachi no kata: Sho Rekkaza Kiri?) - The user jumps into the air and swings their sword, generating circular torrents of wind that instantly cut their opponent. Ninth stance: Dangerous Typhoon (玖くノ型かた 韋い駄だ天てん台たい風ふう, Ku no kata: Idaten Taifū?) - The user performs a backflip in the air and, while upside down, unleashes a powerful circular gust of wind that cuts through everything in its path.
