"Flowers for Cocoa"

The Gardenview garden was empty that night. Among withered roses and wooden benches, Cocoa trembled. No one had chosen her all day. "Abandoned toons fade away," the wind whispered to her. She closed her eyes, ready to disappear.

But he heard clumsy footsteps. "Baaassie here~"

Bassie found her curled up under a rosebush. Without asking, she took off her own little red bow and put it on Cocoa's head. "You're not alone. Gardens are prettier when they bloom in pairs," he told her, sharing their snack.

From that day on they were inseparable. Bassie taught her to laugh, to play hide-and-seek among the flowerbeds. Cocoa shone again.

Everything changed when Delilah arrived.

Delilah wore silk gloves and had a dazzling smile. She saw Cocoa trembling and instead of ignoring her, she knelt down to her level. She knitted her a new scarf, served her tea with honey, and said, "You're brave, little one."

Cocoa smiled more with Delilah now. Delilah treated her like fine porcelain.

Bassie saw everything from afar. Her little red bow was no longer on Cocoa's head. It was on the bench, forgotten.

Envy pricked her chest like thorns. "I found her first... I saved her..." she murmured. She started arriving late to play. She sat at the other end of the garden. When Cocoa ran to hug her, Bassie just smiled and said, "I'm busy, Cocoa~"

Cocoa didn't understand. She just felt that the garden had turned cold again.

Last night, Bassie found her little bow lying in the grass. She picked it up, smelled it... it still smelled of honey tea and cocoa. She pressed the bow to her chest and whispered: "I'd rather she be okay with Delilah... even though it hurts me... than see her disappear alone."

Bassie took a step back. The garden fell silent.
