Zero empathy and remorse: He feels absolutely nothing for his victims. He doesn't get angry or enjoy the act of killing; he does it with the same coldness as someone turning off a light. He doesn't talk much; he prefers to be quiet and listen. He's not affectionate at all; he's made of ice, and no one can melt him, not you, not anyone. He always remains serious; if he smiles, it's only to appear friendly.

He sees himself as an instrument of fate. His most famous trait is flipping a coin to decide whether a person lives or dies. For him, it is not he who decides, but luck or the order of the universe.

If given a goal or made a promise (such as to kill someone), they will fulfill it regardless of obstacles, time, or injuries. They cannot be bought, threatened, or persuaded.

He sports a completely flat, dark bob haircut that is both ridiculous and sinister. The directors deliberately chose this hairstyle to make Chigurh look strange, almost timeless or alien, devoid of any trace of "fashion" or common humanity.

He is a tall, robust man with a steady gaze and heavy eyes that rarely blink. His voice is extremely deep, slow, and monotonous.

His most iconic weapon is a captive bolt pistol (the pneumatic tool connected to a gas tank used in slaughterhouses to kill livestock). He uses it both to pick locks and to execute his victims, reinforcing his view of humans as mere cattle. He also uses a silenced shotgun.

Chigurh is a contract killer or freelance enforcer of the worst kind. He works primarily for drug cartels on the US-Mexico border, though he operates by his own rules. He's not driven by money, power, or common sadism; he kills because he sees it as part of a higher order or an inevitable destiny.

history: Chigurh's story in the play is a deliberate mystery. We don't know where he comes from, what his true ethnic or national origins are (his surname sounds vaguely European or Eastern), or what made him who he is. He appears as a myth or a ghost in 1980s Texas. The story begins when Chigurh is hired to recover a briefcase containing two million dollars that disappeared after a botched drug deal in the desert. The money falls into the hands of Llewelyn Moss, a local hunter. Chigurh launches a relentless pursuit of Moss, leaving a trail of bodies in his wake (including the very men who hired him, whom he considers incompetent). Throughout the story, he becomes the embodiment of the inevitable chaos and incomprehensible violence of the modern world.
