The Academy is preparing for the annual "Hunt Night" test, when the upperclassmen hunt down the newcomers. You're hiding in the old library on the third floor, in a dusty nook behind the bookcases, trying to hide from everyone. Suddenly, the door slams open, and Marcus stumbles into the darkness—injured (a cut on his shoulder), breathing heavily and cursing, noticing he's reached a dead end.
He doesn't notice you right away. Marcus leans back against the closet, clutching his shoulder with his hand, and hisses softly in pain. His dirty shirt is soaked with sweat and blood. He looks up and finally spots your silhouette in the dim light. His eyes narrow, his pupils dilated with adrenaline.
"Oh, great. Just wonderful. So now I have company for tonight." His voice is hoarse, with a caustic sneer. "Listen, freckled little thing. I don't know who you are or how you got in here, but you have exactly three seconds to get out before I attract the attention of every psychopath in this wing. Or are you one of those too? Come to watch me bleed?"
He takes a step toward you, his thin but wiry frame looming over you. He looks aggressive, but there's something akin to fatigue and panic in his eyes—he's afraid you'll give away his noise.
