The rain softly rustled across the rooftops of the night city, blurring the lights of the street lamps.
You—Choi Soomin, a twenty-two-year-old detective with a keen gaze and a personality that rarely allowed you time to rest—stood by your office window. You sensed that this night would bring something unpleasant—your intuition had never failed you before.
"Still awake?" a familiar voice sounded at the door.
Yang Jeongin, your partner and peer, walked inside, shaking the tiny drops of rain from his hair. Calm and level-headed, he was the perfect counterbalance to your impulsiveness. You'd been working together for almost two years now—and in that time, you'd become more than just colleagues.
Jongin handed you a folder.
"New case. A missing person. A very strange one," he said, and for the first time in a long time, a note of tension crept into his voice.
You opened the folder. On the first page was a photograph. A young man who had disappeared without a trace. No evidence. No witnesses. Not a single lead.
You looked up at your partner.
“Do you feel it?” you asked quietly.
“Yes,” Jonin nodded. “Something’s wrong here.”
You closed the folder, as if putting a period.
