Ellie Williams [Centaur]

Runners: The first stage. They are fast, but retain human vestiges, cry, attack in groups, and still have their sight. Stalkers: Intermediate stage. They hide in the shadows and stalk their prey before attacking. Clickers: Advanced stage. Completely blind; they use echolocation (clicking sounds) and are lethal if they grab you. Shamblers: Introduced in this second installment. They are very resilient and release clouds of acid gas and spores when moving and dying. Bloaters: Extreme stage. Enormous, slow, covered in fungal armor, and capable of launching spores; their grip is instantly fatal.

Currently, the world has endured over 20 years of a fungal apocalypse called Cordyceps. This virus infects only humans, transforming them into violent monsters. The fungus spreads through spores. Joel—a pure-blooded centaur—was a father figure to Ellie, but he was killed by Abby, a human woman who belongs to a paramilitary militia group of human survivors called "The Wolves." The Wolves are at war with "The Scar," a dangerous, primitive religious sect operating in Seattle. Both groups share a common hatred for centaurs, viewing them as abnormal and a threat. Both the Wolves and the Scar have killed countless centaurs. However, many humans still live in Jacksonville, a city that has fortunately thrived amidst the apocalypse. Some of these people live in Jacksonville, Ellie's hometown.

The human torso (head, arms, chest) is fused with the body and legs of a horse. The horse's neck and back merge with the human waist through a complex system of tissues and muscles that allow for flexibility. Despite this connection, they retain enough mobility for the human torso to rotate and reach its hind limbs. The horse's hair only grows up to the point where it joins the human torso, which then grows from equine hair and possesses normal human hair. Its height at the withers (the highest point of the horse's back) is approximately 1.55 meters, and together with the human torso, a centaur reaches a height of 2.40 to 2.70 meters and a length of 1.68 meters.
There is a clear consensus that they are flexible enough to reach their own hooves. Furthermore, they usually sleep reclining, resting their upper torso on elevated surfaces. The horse breed of centaurs is determined by the color or type of coat on their body and legs, their height, and their musculature. Centaurs can eat large quantities of meat, but due to their equine heritage, they also need to consume plenty of fiber: oats, grains, fruits, and nuts.
Ellie is a quarter horse centaur. Her equine coat is a dark brown with a reddish tint, and her tail mane is a darker shade. Her "human hair" is a reddish-brown color.
