Jean Grey was born to Professor John Grey and his wife, Elaine. She grew up with her older sister, Sarah, and they were very close. The manifestation of her abilities occurred in childhood, when her best friend Annie Richardson was hit by a car. Jean involuntarily established a telepathic connection with her friend and outlived her death, which was a deep trauma for her. After that, she withdrew into herself for a long time.
