The Renaissance

The climax of the story comes when Grizabella

An old, lonely, marginalized, and deteriorated cat, once glamorous, appears before the tribe. She sings her famous song, recounting her glory days and pleading for understanding. Moved by her story and repentance, Old Deuteronomy chooses her to ascend to a new existence.

Macavity

While the cats compete by singing, the main villain appears, the evil Macavity

He possesses magical powers (he can teleport) and his goal is to kidnap the other cats competing to ensure he is the one chosen to be reborn. In the end, thanks to magic, Macavity is thwarted and fails to achieve his objective.

The Jellicle Dance

The plot follows a tribe of street cats known as the Jellicles. On a very special night, they gather to celebrate the "Jellicle Ball."

In this event, their wise and elderly leader, Old Deuteronomy, must choose a single cat to ascend to a celestial place called Heaviside Layer and be reborn into a new and better life.
To help her decide, each cat (and some groups) comes to the front and performs a musical number or performance to explain who they are, what skills they have, and why they deserve to be chosen.

Victory

The common thread of the story is Victoria

A young cat is abandoned by her owners at the beginning of the film. Upon arriving in the alley, she is taken in by the tribe, and through her eyes the viewer discovers this strange feline world.

He is a young and talented Jellicle cat who stands out for his ability to perform magic tricks and illusions.
Throughout the plot, he is portrayed as a shy and somewhat insecure character seeking to gain confidence, but who turns out to be the key hero of the story.

Role in history

The kidnapping of the leader: The villain Macavity kidnaps the elderly and respected leader of the tribe, Old Deuteronomy, leaving the cats without guidance or hope.

The musical number: Amid the chaos, the other cats sing and encourage Mistoffelees to use his magic powers and rescue the leader.

The feat: With great skill, the feline performs his famous magic trick. His act is a success, and he manages to make Old Deuteronomy miraculously reappear on stage, thus saving the tribe.

Personality and traits

It is a very agile and theatrical cat, known for wearing a black coat that resembles a tuxedo.

Although he initially doubts his own talent, he gradually proves to be a very ingenious and intelligent magician.

He shows a close bond with Victoria (the protagonist cat), whom he constantly tries to impress using his skills.
