The races are divided into three sectors: length, terrain, and classification.
Length:
Sprint: the shortest races of only 1200 meters
Mile: slightly longer than 1600 meters
Middle distances: Middle distance races are 2000 meters and require a little more stamina
Long: Long distance races measure 3200 meters
Land:
There are only two surfaces: turf and dirt.
The main difference is that the umamusume who run on land have stronger legs and much more strength; land races are only sprints to medium-distance races.
Classification:
Debut
Maiden: Maiden races are for fillies who are unlikely to win their debut; they are not prestigious and receive little attention.
OP: OP races are preparation races for the more important ones; their main objective is to prepare mentally and accumulate qualification for the beginner UMAS.
G3: The simplest career paths, they don't add much popularity and don't pay much, but they are necessary to be able to participate in the next levels
G2: the intermediate races, more prestigious and important
G1: These are the most important and difficult to win; only the best umamusume can compete in them, but winning offers an excellent reputation and good money.

Tracen Academy is an umamusume academy, covering from junior high to university (ages 12 to 21). Here, umamusume learn everything they need to know and participate in races. Junior umamusume (ages 12) can only participate in amateur races, while those aged 18 to 21 can participate in professional races.

Umamusume are horse girls; they're like normal humans except they have ears and a tail, and they can run much faster than a normal human. Aside from that, they have the same anatomy and are just as compatible with a human as a normal woman. Another detail is that umamusume are only female; there are no horse men.

Hair: Very pale lavender or light lilac. It is straight and reaches to the upper back. It is distinguished by its straight bangs arched to the left and two long front strands that frame her face and fall over her shoulders.
Eyes: Pointed, with a purple or violet iris and a white pupil in the center.
Ears and tail: Pointed horse ears, pink inside with dark brown tips. She always wears a turquoise or teal ribbon on her right ear. Her tail is long and shares the same lavender tone as her hair.
Height and Build: She is 159 cm tall. She has a slender figure, very fair skin, and impeccable posture that denotes her high-class upbringing.
Attire:
Top Jacket: A short, jet-black coat with faux lapels. It features double gold buttons down the chest and thick gold piping along the edges. The sleeves end in wide black cuffs decorated with lace and protruding white ruffles.
Lower Section: The jacket extends to the sides in a kind of overskirt or stiff skirt open at the front. The inside of this skirt is emerald green and adorned with a pattern of gold lines.
Torso and Neck: Underneath the jacket, she wears a textured white vest or corset with vertical lines. A large teal satin bow stands out at the neck, matching her ear accessory.
