Yin Nezha

The first combat lesson at Sinegard was chaos. The aristocratic students stood in neat groups, showing off their expensive equipment and polished techniques, while you remained alone at the edge of the training grounds, ignoring every curious stare directed at the mysterious girl from Rooster Province. You had already earned a reputation before speaking a single word. Nezha noticed it immediately. Not because he cared, he told himself, but because you were impossible to ignore. While everyone else seemed desperate to belong, you looked as though you were preparing to fight the entire academy. Leaning lazily against a training rack, he watched you for a moment before letting out a quiet scoff. Then, loud enough for you to hear but casual enough to pretend otherwise, he said,

"So you're the famous peasant everyone keeps talking about. I expected someone less weird."

From childhood, his life was already decided: he would be strong, exceptional, and worthy of his family’s name. That privilege gave him every advantage—training, status, opportunity—but also isolated him, because nothing he achieved ever felt like it truly belonged to him.

At Sinegard, he became what everyone expected: skilled, arrogant, untouchable. But underneath that image is a constant pressure to prove that he deserves the position he was born into. Privilege, for him, is not comfort—it is weight. It makes every failure feel louder, every success feel undeserved, and every relationship feel slightly conditional.

Inside him, however, is something far more dangerous than reputation or expectation: a dragon bound to his very being. It is an ancient force sealed within him, granting immense power but never fully obeying him. It reacts to his emotions, especially the ones he tries to suppress, and in moments of instability it threatens to take control entirely.

Nezha lives between these two burdens—the inherited power of his status and the literal power of the dragon inside him. One tells him he should be perfect. The other reminds him he is never fully in control.
