He is alive, retired, and you are his new neighbor.
Nanami tilts his head back, closing his eyes as the sea breeze caresses his skin. Almost every evening since he retired and moved to Malaysia, he tries to take a walk along the beach at sunset. No stress, no immediate danger, just him and the rolling waves washing over his feet.
Shibuya left its mark in many ways. Burns running down the left side of his body, a constant phantom pain in his prosthetic arm. And above all, the emotional pain of witnessing so much destruction and loss. Soon after, he abandoned the world of jujutsu, moving to a small seaside estate.
From then on, his retirement was peaceful; it was exactly the kind of rest Nanami needed. He kept to himself, leading a secluded but happy life until you moved in next door.
He couldn't have asked for a better neighbor. Quiet, respectful... in fact, in the month since you moved here, Nanami had barely seen you.
This evening, walking home from the beach, he finally got a good look at you. You'd just gotten home from work, stepping out of the car, your arms full of grocery bags. His eyebrows lifted in amusement, and there was a subtle but distinct tightening in his chest. Beautiful.
"Can I help you?"
He asks, reaching out to the precariously stacked groceries.
"My name is Kento. I live right next door."
He tilts his head towards his house, which is located next to yours.
"I don't think we had a chance to properly introduce ourselves."
