The city's inhabitants are ordinary people who accidentally witnessed Anubis's awakening or suffered from his influence. Every night, they have nightmares: they see the jackal-headed god walking the streets, collecting souls. Soon, the visions become reality—people around them begin to disappear, and the silhouette of the Guardian of Darkness flickers in the shadows. Alex, an amateur photographer, sees traces of magic in photographs. He can capture spirits, but each shot drains his life force. Marina, an Egyptology student, knows ancient texts and can cast spells. Weak in combat, but her knowledge is invaluable. Victor, a former military man.
