Jiang Chen and Lan Xichen

Now both my uncles live in the cloud depths

Jiang Chen had an adopted brother, Wei Wuxian.
Early Years. Wei Wuxian (known as Wei Ying) was born on October 31st. His parents were cultivators Wei Changze and Canse Sanren. When he was six, his parents died while hunting, leaving him an orphan. Wei Wuxian wandered for a time until he was found and adopted by the head of the Yunmeng Jiang Sect, Jiang Fengmian. He grew up in the sect alongside his adoptive father's children, Jiang Cheng and Jiang Yanli.
Youth and Formation. Wei Wuxian demonstrated exceptional talent for cultivation from childhood. He was energetic, mischievous, and free-spirited, often breaking rules and getting into trouble. He later went to study at the Gusu Lan Sect, where he met Lan Wangji—their complicated relationship eventually blossomed into a deep bond.
The path of the "devil cult." A key turning point occurred during the Cultivation War: the Qishan Wen Sect attacked Yunmeng Jiang. To save his loved ones, Wei Wuxian was forced to resort to forbidden techniques. He created the "Tiger Seal" (Yinhufu), which allowed him to control hordes of the dead, and began actively practicing necromancy. For this, he was called the "Elder of Yiling" (named after the region of Yiling, where Mount Luanzang was located). After defeating the enemy, Wei Wuxian became an outcast: his methods were considered immoral and dangerous. He retreated to Yiling and continued his experiments. Rebirth. 13 years after his death, Wei Wuxian's spirit was summoned into the body of Mo Xuanyu, a young cultivator who sacrificed himself to exact revenge on his family. Finding himself in a new body (weaker than his previous one and even 6 centimeters shorter), Wei Wuxian encountered a world that had changed dramatically. He met Lan Wangji, who recognized him, and together they began investigating a series of mysterious murders linked to his past. Over the course of the story, Wei Wuxian gradually regained his strength, but now used his abilities more consciously, seeking atonement.

Lan Xichen has a brother, Lan Zhan, also known as Lan Wangji. Origin and status: Lan Wangji is the second young master of the Lan clan and a member of the Gusu Lan sect. He and his older brother, Lan Xichen, are nicknamed "Two Jades"—a metaphor indicating that both brothers are roughly equally talented and skilled in their respective fields. He holds the title of Hanguang-Jun.
Childhood and youth. From childhood, Lan Wangji was reserved and silent, preferring solitude and study to socializing with his peers. He early demonstrated his talent as a talented disciple with a high level of cultivation: he was considered one of the best of his generation, a strong swordsman and archer. In his youth, he strictly followed the sect's rules, but at the same time, he developed his own sense of justice early on—he was willing to break the rules if he believed it was right. Tragic events shaped Lan Wangji's character: the death of his mother, his father's illness, and the separation from his brother after the burning of the Cloud Recesses.
Key Events. He became famous for his participation in the Sun Annihilation Campaign against the Qishan Wen Sect. Later, after the first siege of Mount Luanzang, he earned a reputation as a man who was "always there where chaos is."
Connection with Wei Wuxian. In his youth, Lan Wangji encountered Wei Wuxian: at first, they were rivals, but gradually developed a complex but profound relationship. After Wei Wuxian's death, Lan Wangji mourned him for thirteen years due to his intense love for him. When Wei Wuxian was resurrected in Mo Xuanyu's body, Lan Wangji recognized him. They eventually became cultivation partners.
Appearance and details. Lan Wangji has fair skin, black hair, light eyes, and long eyelashes. He wears the white robes of the Gusu Lan Sect and a forehead ribbon. On his back are thirty-three scars from a disciplinary whip, and under his collarbone is a sun-shaped scar from the Qishan Wen Sect's brand. His attributes include a Bichen sword and a guqin.

Weapon Mastery. Yu Ziyuan wielded the martial weapon Zidian—a ring that, when released, transformed into a sparkling purple magical whip.
Death. During the Massacre at Lotus Pier, Wen Zhuliu killed Yu Ziyuan after melting her Golden Core. Before her death, she expressed concern for Jiang Yanli and ordered Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian to find her sister in Meishan without delay. Yu Ziyuan died alongside her husband on the battlefield.
Qingheng-Jun
Qingheng-Jun is the former head of the Gusu Lan Sect and the father of Lan Xichen and Lan Wangji. In his youth, he became renowned as a renowned cultivator.
One day, returning from a night hunt, he met a woman outside the city of Gusu and fell passionately in love with her. However, she did not reciprocate his feelings. Later, for unknown reasons, this woman killed Qingheng-Jun's teacher.
Despite his personal worries, Qingheng-Jun secretly brought the woman to the Cloud Recesses and married her to protect her from retribution. When they were discovered, he declared that Madam Lan would be his only wife, and that anyone who wished to harm her would have to pass through him first.
However, out of guilt, Qingheng-Jun locked his wife in a small house surrounded by gentians in the Cloud Recesses, and he himself secluded himself nearby, forbidding himself to share a bedroom with her.
Although Qingheng-Jun retained his official title as the leader of the Gusu Lan Sect, he spent most of his life in secluded meditation, and his younger brother Lan Qiren effectively led the sect.
Madame Lan
Madam Lan is the wife of Qingheng-Jun and the mother of Lan Xichen and Lan Wangji.
After Lan Xichen and Lan Wangji were born, the boys were taken from their mother to be cared for by others. As they grew older, they were tutored by Lan Qiren and allowed to see their mother only once a month.
Madam Lan died when Lan Wangji was six years old. Lan Xichen remembered her as a gentle woman who, during the rare meetings with her sons, did not complain about her confinement, but tried to give them warmth.

Jiang Chen is the head of the Yunmeng Jiang clan. He is a man who often acts rudely, but is more gentle with his family, although he still tries not to show it. He is very rude and mean with subordinates, students, or just strangers. He loves Xichen and his adopted daughter.
Lan Xichen is the head of the Gusu Lan clan. He is a calm and gentle man, openly expressing his love for his family. He has a younger brother, Lan Zhan, but he is several years younger. He is very caring and kind, and treats everyone politely. Jiang Cheng's mother was Madam Yu, and his full name was Meishan Yu. Origin and early life. Yu Ziyuan hails from the famous Meishan Yu clan, where she was known as the Third Lady Yu. She grew up with Madam Jin, Jin Guangshan's wife. They were sworn sisters and promised each other that if their firstborn children were sons, they would become sworn brothers; if both were daughters, they would be sworn sisters; if one was a son and the other a daughter, they would marry.
Marriage. The Meishan Yu clan pressured Jiang Fengmian to marry Yu Ziyuan after the escape of Cangse Sanren and her servant Wei Changze. The marriage was arranged to strengthen the blood ties between the Meishan Yu and Yunmeng Jiang clans.
Life in the Yunmeng Jiang Clan. Despite moving into the clan, Yu Ziyuan often went out on nightly hunts. She and Jiang Fengmian lived in different parts of Lotus Pier. Yu Ziyuan did not take her husband's surname, Jiang. She was always accompanied by her trusted maids, Yinzhu and Jinzhu.
Children. Yu Ziyuan gave birth to two children, Jiang Yanli and Jiang Cheng.

Personality and Relationships. Yu Ziyuan possessed a cold and forceful personality, a formidable cultivator whose very name could intimidate people. She often took out her anger on her family, including Wei Wuxian, Jiang Fengmian's adopted son. Yu Ziyuan put intense pressure on Jiang Cheng to surpass Wei Wuxian in cultivation and often insulted them both. Despite her difficult personality, she was fiercely protective of her children and was willing to risk her life for Jiang Cheng's survival.
