Karasuno High school!

Karasuno, like most Japanese schools, has a uniform and dress code. The male uniform consists of a classic black gakuran, a white collared shirt, a cream-colored sweater, and black trousers. Women wear a more formal uniform, consisting of a white blouse, a red ribbon, a cream-colored sweater, a black jacket, and a gray skirt. However, since many students are often seen without the cream-colored sweater and T-shirts instead of collared shirts, it is assumed that the dress code is not strictly enforced.

The boys' volleyball club uniform consists of a black tracksuit with white details. Participants wear white t-shirts and black shorts during practice matches, often topped with a yellow bib. During official matches, most players wear black t-shirts and shorts with orange details. The libero wears a contrasting orange t-shirt with black details. For the spring tournament, the libero's uniform changes from orange to black, and the rest of the players' uniforms change from black to orange.

Keishin Ukai is the current coach of the Karasuno High boys' volleyball club. He was a former setter at the school. Ukai has dyed blond hair, which he usually wears with a headband. He told Nekoma's coach, Nekomata, that he resembles his grandfather, Ukai's former coach. He wears two earrings on his left ear. His behavior is typical of a man in his twenties. He smokes and drinks, and is willing to casually discuss alcohol with minors, such as when he talked about "the first sip of beer" to explain Karasuno's tactics. He is also quite competitive; the only reason he became the first-year coach was because he wanted to beat Nekoma in a practice match, but he continued coaching even afterward because he challenged the Nekoma coaches to another match.

Ittetsu Takeda is the advisor of the Karasuno High volleyball club. Takeda has messy black hair and brown eyes, which he wears over glasses. He often wears a green blazer with a black tie. His height is about the same as Hinata's, making him look younger than he actually is. Takeda is persistent, a trait that helped him secure practice matches and a coach for the team. He has an optimistic outlook and is rather shy and awkward. He is polite and respectful of others, as evidenced by his constant bows as a sign of gratitude and requests for practice matches and similar things. Takeda is generally cheerful, but can become quite intimidating when angry.

Kiyoko Shimizu is a third-year student at Karasuno High School. She serves as the team's manager. Kiyoko is an attractive girl with short black hair that falls just below her shoulders. Her most distinguishing feature is a small mole on the lower left side of her chin. She also has blue eyes and wears glasses. A generally quiet girl, she is initially shown to be serious and passionate in her position as the team's manager, as when she and the other third years refuse to leave the club. She cares deeply for the team members, as shown when she repaired and cleaned the old Karasuno sign to boost the team's morale.

Hitoka Yachi is a first-year student at Karasuno High School. She is one of the volleyball club's managers. Hitoka has light, choppy hair cut just above her shoulders. She usually wears a bright star-shaped hair clip, which she uses to tie part of her hair into a ponytail on the left side. Possessing a rich imagination, Hitoka constantly worries about imaginary fears. She often has to apologize for judging others by appearances or first impressions. She is also very timid and innocent (when the volleyball team changes uniforms, Yachi usually blushes and closes her eyes). Because she has low self-esteem, she underestimates her own importance and downplays her abilities. However, it is later revealed that Hitoka has many positive qualities. Yachi is rather clumsy and often nervous, but she always cares for others and tries to cheer them up when they are in a bad mood.

Daichi Sawamura is a third-year student at Karasuno High School and the captain of the volleyball club, playing as a wing spiker. He's a great leader, able to inspire his teammates, but he's terrifying when angry. During the period when the original coach, Ukai, was hospitalized, he was one of the captains who was supposed to act as the team's coach. He has short dark hair, dark brown eyes, and tanned skin. Daichi has a large build, and many people say his appearance immediately distinguishes him as captain. He usually has a gentle smile on his face, but when he gets angry, his eyes become dull. Daichi is a very caring captain who makes sure everything is alright. He's also patient and understanding, but it becomes truly frightening when he gets angry or when his patience is tested. Although he rarely displays this personality trait, his vice-captain, Sugawara, recommends avoiding it. Everyone on the team respects him, but they're also a little afraid of him. It's been noted that Daichi doesn't come across as a schoolboy due to his sense of responsibility (just as Asahi doesn't due to his appearance). However, despite all this, he can act downright childish: once during lunch, he wrestled with the basketball captain, swung too hard, and hit the emergency bell with his elbow.

Koushi Sugawara is the volleyball club's vice-captain and a third-year student at Karasuno High School. Like Kageyama, he is a setter, filling in when needed. He is very kind and compassionate. He understands the feelings of all the club members well, which is why everyone loves him. He is of average height and build. He has light-gray (ash) hair and brown eyes with a mole under his left eye. He is usually seen with a gentle smile on his face. As vice-captain, he reassures his teammates and acts as a source of support and encouragement for them. Even though he is no longer Karasuno's main setter, he has no intention of giving up on the game altogether. Thus, he encourages himself and all his teammates to never give up, no matter how difficult their situation.

Asahi Azumane is a third-year student at Karasuno High School, playing as a wing spiker and serving as Karasuno's ace. Asahi is a tall man with a strong, athletic build. He has long brown hair, pulled back at the roots, and large brown eyes. He also has a goatee. He later began wearing a hair tie to keep his hair out of the way during games. Despite his intimidating appearance, Asahi is very kind and quiet by nature. He finds it difficult to accept that he is Karasuno's ace because he doesn't feel like one. He is initially shown to be weak-willed, having left the team before the first years joined, feeling he let his teammates down when they lost to Date Tech High, as they were counting on him. When he returns to the team, he realizes that his passion for volleyball is much stronger than he thought, and with the help of his teammates, he finally recognizes himself as the ace of Karasuno and gains confidence.

Tadashi Yamaguchi is a first-year middle blocker at Karasuno High School. He serves as the team's "Substitute Pitcher" (gliding serve). Yamaguchi is a young man of average build. He has short black hair, often depicted with a brown or green tint, that is messy and sticks out in all directions. Before entering middle school, Tadashi was teased for his freckles and skinny frame. But now that he's grown up, he no longer worries about it. Yamaguchi is quite timid and often relies on others. Nevertheless, Tadashi is a very nice guy; he often laughs with Tsukishima or is simply around Kei when he teases or bullies others. Yamaguchi is a hard worker. This is evident when he asks for extra practice or when he continues to practice separately from the team after realizing he's weaker than the rest of Karasuno. After failing in the match against Aoba Johsai, he becomes more confident thanks to his teammates and Makoto Shimada.

Kei Tsukishima is a first-year middle blocker at Karasuno High. Tsukishima is very tall and has an average build for a volleyball player. Despite being only a first-year, Kei is the tallest player at Karasuno. He has short, slightly tousled blond hair, golden eyes, and pale skin. Tsukishima can often be seen frowning or with a sly smirk on his face. After joining the Karasuno volleyball team, Kei wears the Karasuno uniform with the number 11, black kneepads, and white sneakers with green stripes during games. He is also the only player on the Karasuno team to wear glasses. Tsukishima is a conservative Japanese man with a traditional upbringing. He is a strict formalist, addressing everyone except his peers and family as "you." He often makes sarcastic remarks to his peers. He is reserved and dislikes showing emotion. He has an analytical mind, is calm and calculating, which irritates many players from opposing teams (Oikawa in the match against Seijoh, Shirabu and Tendo in the match against Shiratorizawa).

Shoyou Hinata is the main character of the anime and manga Volleyball. Hinata began playing volleyball after watching a Karasuno volleyball player nicknamed "Little Giant" play. Hinata was impressed by how the shorter player could defeat much larger opponents. When Hinata was a first-year high school student, his height was 162.8 cm, but by mid-year, he had grown to 164.2 cm. Shoyou is one of the shortest players on the team, shorter only than Nishinoya (although his height is fairly average for a Japanese male high school student). He has unruly red hair and brown eyes. Hinata has a cheerful and energetic personality. He is a cheerful and easy-going guy. Hinata is generally very simple-minded, which sometimes leads him to make rash decisions. However, he has also proven himself to be very observant. Hinata is very empathetic and sympathetic to the suffering and experiences of others. That's why he often says exactly what others need to hear to nudge themselves in the right direction. His friendly and straightforward nature allows him to easily befriend even the quietest people, like Kenma from Nekoma High and Aone from Date Tech.

Tobio Kageyama is the deuteragonist of Haikyuu!! For most of the manga, he was a first-year student at Karasuno High School, playing as the starting setter for the boys' volleyball club. Initially, he was called the "King of the Court"—a derogatory nickname given to him by his teammates at Kitagawa Daiichi due to his dictatorial presence on the team. Kageyama's height and his impressively sharp gaze are said to be his most prominent physical attributes. He has a very muscular build. He often exudes an intimidating aura, which is reinforced by the near-constant scowl on his face. His black hair is cut short, with his bangs hanging just above his dark blue eyes. His everyday attire consists of either his school uniform or his workout clothes. Perpetually sullen, arrogant, and undeniably short-tempered, Kageyama was initially a typical overbearing perfectionist, caring only about winning and completely disregarding the opinions and well-being of his teammates.

Hisashi Kinoshita was a former second-year student at Karasuno High School, playing as one of the substitutes and a wing spiker. Hisashi has short, light-blond hair that sticks out like a spiky pixie cut and cat-like eyes. He is of average height, but compared to the other second years, he is the shortest after Nishinoya. When it comes to his own abilities, he is very anxious and constantly worries about whether he will play well. He is not a regular starter, but despite this, he is a strong supporter of the team. Kinoshita is always encouraging Karasuno and is shown to be unafraid to make snide remarks to the team. He once told Tanaka, "Keep your shirt on, baldy."

Kazuhito Narita is a second-year middle blocker at Karasuno High. Like Tanaka, he has a shaved head, but Narita's hair is slightly darker. He is tall and slender. He has wide brown eyes and narrow eyebrows that match his hair color. Narita is a calm, friendly person who doesn't get irritated easily. Narita is quite skilled at interceptions and plays particularly well with Sugawara, with whom he has been practicing for some time. However, he has trouble adapting to new setters and different attacks, demonstrating that his skill set is limited.

Chikara Ennoshita is a second-year student at Karasuno High. One of the team's outside spikers, Ennoshita is an ordinary guy with slightly downturned eyes, giving him a perpetually sleepy expression. He has dark brown hair that reaches his middle, and eyebrows and eyes of the same color. He doesn't often attract much attention and usually goes unnoticed, even when he's on the court. He appears quiet and reserved, but can be cheeky towards other second-years. He is intelligent and has never received bad grades. Like Sugawara, he can be seen with a gentle smile on his face. He is the only second-year capable of keeping Tanaka and Nishinoya in check.

Ryunosuke Tanaka was formerly a member of the Karasuno High School Volleyball Team. For most of the series, he was a second-year outside hitter for Karasuno and its promising ace. After graduating from high school, he became a personal trainer and married Kiyoko Shimizu. Tanaka has a shaved head with a receding hairline and blue/gray eyes (golden-brown in the manga) with a sharp gaze, which has led to the misconception that he is a criminal. He is of average height and muscular. He often makes strange facial expressions to intimidate others, for which Daichi often scolds him. Due to his distinctive appearance, strangers often mistake him for a criminal. He tends to make intimidating faces to try to intimidate others, for which Daichi scolds him. He has high moral fortitude; when cornered, he doesn't lose his composure and continues to play consistently. Loud, hot-tempered and easily irritated, he is no stranger to starting fights.

Yuu Nishinoya is a second-year student at Karasuno High School, playing the libero position, a position he justifies by saving the ball most of the time. He chose this position because he understood it was one of the most important on the team. Nishinoya is the shortest player on the team, standing at 159 cm (according to Chapter 207, he is 160.5 cm). Despite his small stature, Yuu has a lean but strong build. He has tousled dark hair that adds 10 cm to his height, and large, unusually shaped brown eyes; the lock of hair falling over his forehead has been bleached. Nishinoya is a very energetic, cheerful, and emotional person. His boisterous nature and impulsive behavior often attract all sorts of attention. Although Yuu almost never considers the consequences of his actions, he is surprisingly tactful and considerate of his friends' feelings, supporting them in any situation.
