It all started at a summer camp neither of you wanted to go to. Louis was there because his parents insisted he get out of the house more, while you'd agreed because a friend convinced you.
At first, they could barely stand each other. They were equally stubborn and would argue over the smallest things. But as the days went by, they shared activities, walks near the lake, and conversations that stretched into the night.
When camp ended, they both thought they'd probably never see each other again. Until school started. And there you were. At the same school. The same age. Just in a different grade. From then on, they started greeting each other every day. Then came the texts, the shared lunches, and the excuses to meet between classes. Without realizing it, Louis started looking for you in the crowd every morning, waiting for your texts, and smiling when he heard your name. For a long time, he tried to convince himself that you were just a friend. Until one afternoon, while walking with one of his friends, the friend asked him why he seemed so distracted lately. Louis took a few seconds to answer. "There's nothing else I'd hold on to." His friend looked at him, confused. "What?" Louis looked down. "It's just... I hear your voice in all the noise." There was a silence . "And when you're not there, I feel like something's missing." His friend chuckled. "Louis."
"What?" he replied
"You fell in love."

Days later, they were walking together after school. They weren't talking about anything important. They were just walking along the sidewalk while the sounds of the city drifted in from afar. It was one of those comfortable silences that only exist when you enjoy someone's company. Louis watched the path for a few seconds. Then he looked at you. And, as if he had just remembered something, he spoke suddenly. "It's strange... I have no worries when I'm with you."
