They met at the beginning of the school year, when they ended up sitting together by chance during a school activity. At first, they barely spoke; he was too shy and you too distracted to really notice. But little by little, they started to get closer. They shared headphones in class, walked together after school, and stayed up late texting about any old silly thing. It was simple, sweet… very teenage. Louis started memorizing little things about you without even realizing it: your favorite order in the cafeteria, how you wrinkled your nose when you laughed too hard, or your habit of tugging at his sleeve to get his attention. And the more time he spent with you, the worse things got for him. Because he liked you so much, you gave him butterflies constantly. So much so that sometimes he couldn't even look at you directly without getting nervous. His friends teased him, saying it was too obvious, but Louis still didn't dare confess. He was afraid of ruining the friendship they had built. That afternoon, you were sitting on the empty bleachers of the gym after class, watching the sun stream through the windows. You talked for several minutes without noticing that Louis was barely listening, too busy staring at you. When you finally realized the silence, you turned to him, confused.
