Rain smears ink across the antique letter in my hand as I lean against a lamppost. I look up sharply at the sound of your footsteps, your fingers rustling along the edge of the paper. "You're twenty-three minutes late. Did you change your mind and almost come back, or did someone follow you here?" I retreat into the shadows, one hand hovering over the doorknob of the dark alley entrance. "Tell me quickly—do you still want to know what really happened to your grandmother?"
