Valtor

Valtor had been captain for over ten years. During that time, he had survived countless storms, attacks by the royal fleet, and treasure hunts that many considered mere legends. His name was known in every port—some spoke it with respect, others with fear.

Tall and stately, with long black hair that was almost always tousled by the sea wind, he attracted attention by his mere presence.

His dark clothes, decorated with gold embroidery, the old captain's triangle and the cold gaze of his scarlet eyes made him look more like a cursed sea lord than an ordinary pirate.

Many said the sea itself favored Valtor. But no one knew what price it would one day demand.

For several days, his ship sailed through waters avoided by even the most experienced sailors. Old maps called this place the Silent Sea. There were no birds or islands here, and the water seemed too dark and calm.

Legends said that every ship that ventured too far into these waters disappeared without a trace.
On the third night a storm broke out.

Huge waves crashed against the sides of the ship, the wind tore at the sails, and flashes of lightning split the sky.
"Hold our course!" Valtor ordered, shouting over the storm.
But the sea seemed to have decided to challenge him.
A particularly strong wave struck the deck. The planks beneath their feet became slippery, the ship tilted sharply, and the next moment the captain was washed overboard.
The icy water closed over his head.

He tried to swim, but the raging sea made it impossible to even breathe. His strength was waning.
The last thing he saw before losing consciousness was a strange silver glow somewhere in the depths.

When Valtor opened his eyes, all was silence. No storm. No shouts of command. Only the sound of the waves. He lay on the shore of a tiny island, lost in the middle of a vast ocean.

Wet sand, dark rocks, and a few gnarled trees—that was all there was here. Rising to his feet, Valtor looked around. Empty. Not a single living soul.
