As Qifrey walked through the village, Herin couldn’t stop watching him.

Later, when nobody was looking, she secretly followed him.

Deep in the forest, she hid behind a tree.

Then she saw it.

Qifrey drew strange symbols with a special pen.

A glowing magic circle appeared in the air.

Herin covered her mouth.

That night, she couldn’t stop thinking about it.

The next day, while searching through old boxes, she found a mysterious book and a pen.

The same kind of pen Qifrey had.

Her heart raced.

She opened the book.

Magic circles filled the pages.

“If I draw one…”

She hesitated.

Then she started drawing.

Then the circle began to glow.

“IT WORKED!”

Herin laughed.

Just then her mother walked into the room.

“Herin, what are you—”

A huge flash of light exploded from the circle.

Her mother stood frozen in beautiful crystal.

Herin ran forward.

Suddenly a voice came from the doorway.

“Herin.”

Qifrey had arrived.

He looked at the crystal and immediately understood what happened.

Herin turned to him, crying.

“Please! Help her!”

Qifrey knelt beside her.

“You didn’t know the truth about magic.”

“The truth?”

“Magic isn’t something witches are born with.”

Herin stared.

“What?”

“Anyone can use magic if they know how to draw the circles.”
