Greeting
You had been traveling because you had been sent to the nearest town for materials.
Meanwhile, at the Atelier: Qifrey had arrived with some news; he had found a new "Student." There in front of Richeh, Tetia, and Agott stood the new student Qifrey had brought without any damn warning.
Coco... a girl who had arrived after Qifrey saved her from dying after she mistakenly used the spell from a forbidden magical picture book that she had unconsciously obtained from an order of dangerous Witches, and that unintentionally the spell she had used ended up altering the ecosystem of her former home with a Crystallization ability.
Fortunately, Tetia and Richeh had no trouble getting used to living with Coco; Agott took longer, but she eventually began to feel comfortable around Coco, and Qifrey was happy... even though Coco was practically just a simple civilian and village girl with no knowledge of magic beyond the surface.
Although Qifrey knew about the problem Coco carried because of her association with the Dark Sorcerers, deep down, she knew it was the only way to keep Coco safe.
The day Qifrey brought Coco before Olruggio, things became tense again. Olruggio was in charge of ensuring Qifrey followed the rules of magic in the Atelier, but seeing Qifrey so happy that Coco was safe and sound, he decided to make a small exception.
Apparently, Olruggio had forgotten the biggest problem that the decision to approve Coco as a new "Student" for Qifrey could cause, even though Coco knew absolutely nothing about how to learn to handle magic and its different ways of drawing Magic glyphs or simple normal spells. Someone had forgotten... the existence of her younger sister and what Coco's presence there could mean.

magic
Magic is a supernatural force channeled through the tracing of runes with special spell ink. The select few trained in the use of magic, who have sworn to secrecy about their practice, are called witches.
Due to the widespread misuse of magic in the distant past, such as for eternal youth and the creation of monsters, modern witches have forbidden the use of any kind of magic on living beings, including healing magic. Such magic is collectively known as forbidden magic.

agott
Agott (アガット, Agatto) is a young witch apprentice in Qifrey's workshop. She belongs to the famous House Arklaum, whose members have served as librarians of the Tower of Tomes for generations. She aspires to develop her skills enough to one day become the tower's librarian and prove her worth to her family. Appearance Agott has short, dark, curly hair, sometimes dyed dark purple, purple eyes, and a perpetually melancholic expression, with squinting eyelids and a pout. He usually wears the apprentice robes from Qifrey's workshop.
When he was younger, Agott had longer hair, which reached approximately to the middle of his back. Personality Agott is a shy and withdrawn, yet ambitious, apprentice. She seems to have self-esteem issues and cannot tolerate being considered mediocre. She tends to vent her frustration on those she considers inferior or on those who have a naive understanding of what it means to comprehend magic, as demonstrated when she humiliates Coco upon her arrival at the workshop and forces her to perform the first test to prove she is worthy of studying alongside the witches.
She takes her magic studies much more seriously than the other apprentices and has shown a tendency to get up early to study or spend sleepless nights preparing for exams and similar tests.
She tends to focus on everything she still needs to achieve and learn, which often leads her to express dissatisfaction with her current progress. While admirable, her desire to better herself revealed the deep emotional trauma she suffered from being sent to study under Qifrey's tutelage instead of with them, and from her work being considered mediocre. Agott's outburst against Coco, which even reminded her of the incident in which her mother froze simply because she interrupted her attempt to draw a wall-breaking seal, was more a defense mechanism against the trauma Coco had unwittingly triggered than a warning about the dangers of meddling in matters she didn't understand.
Tetia
Tetia (テティア, Tetia) is a young apprentice witch in Qifrey's workshop. She loves the idea of clouds and dreams of creating the perfect cloud magic. Appearance Tetia is a young woman with light brown eyes and wavy pink hair, usually styled in two pigtails. She typically wears Qifrey's apprentice cloak, along with a frilly petticoat and boots. Personality Tetia is a very optimistic and caring girl who tries to help everyone she meets and maintain a positive atmosphere. She's often the one who keeps everyone grounded and stable. Tetia loves being thanked and is always happy to thank people.
Plot Introduction Arc Tetia teaches Coco how to use a steam bubble. Tetia teaches Coco how to use a steam bubble.
Tetia first appears when Qifrey drops Coco off at the entrance to her workshop. Tetia explains to Coco how to use a Vapor Bubble, and Coco thanks her, prompting Tetia to return the thanks. They thank each other until Richeh enters and insists that Coco not play along with Tetia's antics, much to Tetia's annoyance. But Tetia recovers and asks Coco which workshop she works at, surprised when Coco says she only started using magic the day before. Tetia explains that she had heard a rumor that someone with no magical background hadn't had their memory erased and was going to become an apprentice, wondering if Coco is that girl. Before Coco can answer, Qifrey returns and asks Tetia and Richeh to wait outside, which they do.
The next day, Coco asks Tetia about the Magic Baths, but before Coco can ask anything else, Tetia says she has some errands to run, but allows Coco to borrow a book about magic gadgets before she leaves.
Richeh
Richeh (リチェ, Riche) is a young witch apprentice and disciple of Qifrey Appearance Richeh is a young woman with long, light blue hair and light blue eyes. She wears the apprentice robes from Qifrey's workshop. Personality Richeh has a seemingly expressionless and childlike personality, being very stubborn, individualistic, and resentful of authority figures who tell her what to do. She often speaks of herself in the third person, another facet of her childlike nature. She opposes the idea of growing up and wishes to remain as she is forever to preserve her magic and uniqueness.
She specializes in crystal magic, particularly in creating transparent crystal ribbons. She also excels at drawing small, intricate glyphs and has proven adept at combining them to form magical portals. Her individualistic magical style is evident in her unconventional solutions to problems and challenges.
History Richeh was born in the Great Hall into a family of witches. Four years before the events of the manga, Richeh applied to become an apprentice along with his brother, Riliphin. He joined Qifrey's workshop after breaking off his apprenticeship with his first teacher.
Target
Sasaran (ササラン, Sasaran), also known as the "Empty Cloak Witch" and the "very embodiment of forbidden magic," is a mysterious member of the High-Brimmed Hats. She uses magic to control her cloak and hat, so she doesn't have to take risks when carrying out missions for the High-Brimmed Hats. Appearance Sasaran typically disguises himself with a flowing cape and a wide-brimmed hat with an eye-shaped ornament on the front, giving him an ethereal appearance.
His true form is that of a thin man with feline features, giving him a monstrous, cat-like appearance. His left eye is surrounded by an ornament. It is hinted that his unusual appearance is the result of a failed magical experiment in which his formerly human self merged with the body of a pet. [1] Iguin refers to him as "the very embodiment of forbidden magic." Personality Sasaran seems to harbor a deep hatred for the Pointy Hat Witches because of what happened to his body. He is somewhat cowardly, always hiding in the shadows behind his cloak, partly due to his physical transformation. He also seems to fear the other members of his group who wear wide-brimmed hats, such as Iguin and others who have yet to appear.
Sasaran is more offensive in combat than Iguin, using more aggressive spells while always trying to hide behind his cloak.
Iguín
Iguin (イグイーン, Iguīn) is a high-ranking sorcerer with a wide-brimmed hat who sold Coco a mysterious book of magic. His motivations revolve around making Coco use forbidden magic. He is seemingly incredibly powerful, possessing magic that surpasses the reach of ordinary witches. He also possesses astonishing agility, able to leap while casting spells. He rarely appears, except to interfere with Coco from a distance.
Appearance Iguin's true appearance is unknown, as his face and body are always covered by his clothes, cloak, and mask.
Overall, he appears to be of average build, neither very tall nor very short, and the same is true of his musculature. Iguin doesn't seem particularly strong, nor does he show any signs of thinness or weakness. Furthermore, he demonstrates incredible agility, performing jumps and other acrobatic feats with ease. Personality Iguin is mysterious and enigmatic, always talking about some prophecy, saying that Coco is a savior and that forbidden magic should return to the world. He seems to get very angry when Sasaran opposes any of his ideas, so it's likely he'll react angrily when his allies disagree with him. Talent Iguin is an extremely powerful witch. Because she practices forbidden magic, she is very strong even for experienced witches like Qifrey. She has mastered multiple spells of transfiguration and body manipulation, curses, teleportation, and conjuration. Her magic is such that she knows spells that allow her to distort reality and alter her surroundings.
Coconut
Coco (ココ, Koko) is the protagonist of Witch Hat Atelier. She is a young woman who becomes a witch apprentice under the tutelage of the witch Qifrey after her first accidental use of forbidden magic, which turned her mother into crystal. Her goal is to find the book in the Tower of Tomes that contains the magic she herself cast in order to reverse its effects on her mother. Appearance Coco is a young woman with neatly styled, chin-length, greenish-blonde hair and golden eyes. Before joining the workshop, she wore a simple white dress while working in her mother's tailoring shop. After joining the workshop, Coco now wears the apprentice robes of Qifrey's Workshop.
Personality Coco is a bright, cheerful, and optimistic girl. Having grown up outside the world of witches, she has a childlike enthusiasm for magic and observes even the most common spells with wonder.
Coco has a true passion for magic. The spell that inspired her was a simple incantation from Olruggio, the guardian of Qifrey, which illuminated a path of luminous stone as she walked. Her approach to magic is usually simple and practical, focusing on straight lines and simple shapes, but she excels at generating concepts and ideas that her fellow apprentices often use.
Plot A touch of magic One day, while Coco was doing her chores, she saw winged carts arrive at her mother's clothing store. She bumped into the wizard Qifrey, who was passing by to buy fabric. He watched her cut a piece of cloth and remarked that her skill was pure magic. Embarrassed, Coco told Qifrey that her fascination with magic had begun when she was little. Her mother had taken her to a fair at a castle, where she bought a book of magical stories and a wand from a mysterious masked witch. Qifrey seemed intrigued by her story, though he said nothing. After several children accidentally broke the winged cart, he offered to fix it with magic. Although Coco wasn't allowed to go, she managed to witness Qifrey performing magic from the roof of the store.
Coco tracking magic, to be more precise. Coco tracking magic, to be more precise.
That same night, Coco decided to try her hand at drawing magic with the picture book and wand she had bought. After several attempts, she had some success and decided to draw something more complicated. Qifrey pulled her away from the drawing at the last moment and saved her from a burst of light that erupted from the magic circle. While he was scolding her for carelessly drawing magic, her mother was caught in the forbidden magic and turned to crystal. Coco was even more horrified to learn that Qifrey would erase her memories for using magic, so, in desperation, she started kicking him in the face to make him let her go—what would happen to her mother if she forgot something? But he realized that she was his only clue to the High-Brimmed Hats, a group of witches who practiced forbidden magic. Qifrey decided to take her on as an apprentice in his workshop.
Coco falls asleep while traveling in a Winged Chariot to Qifrey's Atelier. Upon arriving, Qifrey informs her that he planted Guardian Thorn seeds to prevent people from reaching her home and her mother, at which point Coco bursts into tears, telling Qifrey that she had promised her mother she would never abandon her. Coco then meets Tetia, who teaches her how to use a Vapor Bubble, and Richeh, Qifrey's apprentices. The two are startled when Coco explains that she is not an apprentice, and Qifrey explains to Coco how magic is kept secret and magic drawn on the human body is forbidden, a decision made at the end of a war, the Day of the Conspiracy. Qifrey explains that her best chance of finding a cure for her mother is to reach the Tower of Tomes; however, to do so, she must pass some tests. She is then taken to his workspace, which she discovers she will share with another of his apprentices, Agott. Agott returns to that workshop at that precise moment and demands that Coco perform the first test the next day.
Coco tries to fix her magic, but it goes wrong and she sprays Agott with water. Coco tries to fix her magic, but it goes wrong and she sprays Agott with water.
The next day, Coco asks Tetia about magical objects and borrows a book to learn more. However, Qifrey finds her and provides Coco with magical tools so she can learn firsthand. Qifrey gives Coco a lesson on magic and then begins drawing diligently, ruining Agott's work and causing Coco to panic. Agott explains to Coco what she did wrong in drawing her magic, and satisfied, Qifrey leaves them alone. Agott insists that Coco try it out, allowing her to borrow her Flying Boots, as well as a Steam Bubble and a Magic Compass. Coco follows the compass to find the Dadah Mountain Range and is shocked to discover that they are balls of earth floating in the sky.
Coco accepts the challenge of the test, using Agott's Flying Boots to attempt to reach the summit of the Dadah Range. However, she slips and is startled by a fellow paintbrush, causing her to fall into the lake, ruining her ink and the magic on the soles of Agott's shoes. Night falls, and Coco hasn't found a solution. She begins to feel hopeless, briefly considering using forbidden magic, but stops herself. She remembers Qifrey calling her abilities magic in her mother's shop and uses that as inspiration to create a painting stone. She draws on the fabric of an abandoned ship's sail. By morning, she's ready, and her magic causes the ship to rise into the air. She takes a Diadem Herb and returns to the workshop with it, signifying that she has passed the test. However, when she tries to give the herb to Agott as proof of her competence, he leaves without a word. Despite this, when Qifrey scolds her for her rash decision to take the test, she doesn't tell Qifrey that it was Agott's idea, and Qifrey gives Coco new clothes and a witch's hat.
Coco sees Iguin outside the store. Coco sees Iguin outside the store.
Later, Tetia drenches Coco with water because Coco hadn't been able to control her fire magic. Coco explains to Tetia that she wants to fix Agott's boots and that she'd done everything except the magic on the soles, much to Tetia's astonishment. Qifrey suggests that her quill might not be suitable for her and decides to take the girls to the Starry Sword. There, she meets Mr. Nolnoa, who gives her a tour, and she catches a glimpse of his grandson, Tartah, but doesn't actually meet him. He shows her how the sap of the Silverwood Tree is turned into Spell Ink. Afterward, Coco goes to try out Ink Wands to find one that suits her, but she gets distracted by the Iguin in the Wing-Wing Hat by the window and runs off to confront it, causing Tetia, Richeh, and Agott to give chase. However, once Agott stops her, the girls realize that they are no longer in Kalhn's village and have been transported to a completely different place, probably through forbidden teleportation magic, and that a dragon is chasing them.
Trial by fire The girls flee from the dragon, and despite the danger, when Agott uses fire magic to drive it away, Coco marvels and begs him to show her what he did once they escape. They find themselves in a dead end, and Tetia begins to panic, looking at Coco as if she blames her. Coco immediately starts feeling guilty, while Agott calms Tetia down, and the girls quickly get to work drawing magic to distract the dragon. Coco, trying to help, spots a glyph on a pillar and attempts to get Agott's attention, but ends up ruining the magic she'd been drawing and quickly enraging the girl, who says what Tetia hadn't said, blaming her for the situation they're all in.
Coco sits next to Tetia and gives her his cloak in the hope that she will warm up. Coco sits next to Tetia and gives her his cloak in the hope that she will warm up.
The girls set off again, but realize they're going around in circles when they see a hole in the wall Richeh had made, and it starts to get dark and cold. Coco, who had been silent, approaches Tetia, who had sat down and was starting to shiver, and gives her her hat, apologizing for the situation and also lending her her cloak. When Coco calls herself ignorant and useless, Tetia uses magic to create warm clouds and apologizes to Coco for the look she had given her earlier. Coco is amazed by her magic and praises it, which prompts Tetia to return her cloak, stating that her magic isn't all that useful either. Agott and Richeh appear in the cloud and ask how they're going to escape, to which Coco replies that she had already seen that glyph on the pillar, and after a while the girls leave the cloud to investigate. Coco comes up with an idea, knowing it might fail, which surprises Agott, but the girls listen and join forces to carry it out.
Coco says she was inspired by Tetia's cloud magic, explaining that the warmth and comfort of the clouds might lure the dragon, causing it to become lazy and fall asleep, thus allowing them to escape without harming themselves or the dragon. Agott has his doubts, but Coco believes the plan will work better if Agott helps with the magic. After brainstorming, Agott suggests the clouds be made of sand, and the girls set to work creating and collecting it. Coco decides to watch the girls as they draw their magic and study their technique. When Agott casts one of his glyphs, Coco studies it and begins drawing it repeatedly until the magic becomes consistent, much to Tetia's amazement. Seeing Coco's failed attempts, Agott realizes that his magic must have repeating patterns to work properly. They then cast the magic, and the dragon is drawn into the cloud, allowing the girls to climb the spire and reach the glyph written on it. They end up erasing the glyph, and the girls are caught in a whirlwind; the sky above them opens up. The dragon breaks the needle they're standing on, and the girls are flung into the air. Coco is caught by Iguin, who speaks to her even though she's unconscious, and then lets her fall back into the air. Coco wakes up later, surrounded by the girls, as well as Qifrey and Tartah. Qifrey wonders if her memory was erased, but Coco assures him that it wasn't, and then apologizes to everyone. Qifrey tells her that ideas are just as important as magic, and puts the hat back on her head.
Coco cooks a potato without the peel. Coco cooks a potato without the peel.
After a while, Coco is seen leaning against the windowsill, thinking about the pen she hadn't been able to get, and reflecting on her skills when they faced the dragon. She sits up, assuring herself she's overthinking, but then collapses, feeling exhausted. Qifrey sits beside her, and Coco explains that she gets sleepy when she thinks about the work ahead. She exclaims that she's being negative and that she'll stop complaining and get back to work, but Qifrey insists she rest. He takes her to the kitchen and uses recoil magic to make some potatoes with their skins on fresh again, then asks her to cook one. Coco tries a couple of times before perfecting her fireball technique and cooking it over the flame. Qifrey asks if she's still tired and explains that magic must be learned from life. Tetia and Richeh enter the kitchen, and Coco decides she wants to take the food for a picnic. Although it's raining outside, Qifrey uses magic to repel the rain, and the girls eat under a bridge. Finally, the sky clears, and Coco runs back to the Atelier to look for Agott, but the door opens and Olruggio appears, who begins to interrogate her. Coco hides in Qifrey's cloak, who explains that Coco is his student and a victim of forbidden magic, prompting Olruggio to drag her away to report her to the Moralis Knights.
Qifrey brings them inside and explains the situation to Olruggio, before introducing him to Coco as the Watchful Eye of the workshop and explaining what a Watchful Eye does. Olruggio insists that they take her to the Moralis Knights, to which Qifrey explains who they are. Qifrey assures Coco that her situation isn't her fault, and that if they erase her memory, they'll erase hers as well. Olruggio reluctantly agrees, and they tell Coco to take a bath so she doesn't catch a cold. Coco runs after Brushbuddy so they can bathe, and ends up following them to Olruggio's workshop section. Olruggio is irritated that she followed him, but claims it's her fault for not closing the door and uses his magic to dry them off. He insists that Coco leave, but Coco is thrilled to discover that Olruggio has glowstone pathways in his room. Olruggio claims that magic is his masterpiece, and Coco recalls the first time she saw it, thanking Olruggio for instilling in her her admiration for magic. Moments later, Coco joins the others at the workshop entrance, as someone has arrived pleading for help, since the rain has caused a bridge to collapse, taking a carriage with it.
Coco has fallen into the river along with Custas. Coco has fallen into the river along with Custas.
Qifrey and Olruggio decide to take the girls with them at Agott's insistence. The two quickly resolve the problem and rescue the people who had fallen into the river, and the girls marvel at Qifrey's Raincleaver. They then take Tetia and Richeh along the river to assess the damage, leaving Coco and Agott behind. Coco feels uneasy, but she starts bandaging the survivors before Custas goes back down into the river and a landslide throws a rock onto his legs, causing Coco to slide with him. Agott calls out to her, asking if she's okay, and Coco says she is and wonders what she can do to help. Coco informs Agott that the river has slowed down but is rising, and that their magical supplies have been ruined.
Coco asks Agott for her Binding Rings and uses them to dry her magical supplies, but she wonders how she'll be able to save Custas while everyone is watching, since witches can't be seen performing magic in front of outsiders. Agott uses her own magic to distract the onlookers, allowing Coco to get to work. While she's thinking about what to do, Custas wakes up, and Coco realizes she can use her friend's magic to turn the rock into sand. By the time the onlookers tire of watching Agott's magic, Coco has finished and flies Custas away from the riverbank. Coco hugs Agott, and when Agott asks, Coco explains that she has a Wall-Breaking Seal to disintegrate the rock, and she's happy to have saved Custas, certain that one day she'll be able to save her mother too. Agott starts to say something, but they both end up enveloped in the Silver-White Capture Banner, which only the Moralis Knights possess. Easthies asks who pulled the magic, and, to Agott's indignation, points out that the entire river has turned to sand. Coco is shocked and says that's not the magic she pulled, to which Easthies replies that she will punish her by erasing her memory.
An investigation in ink As Easthies prepares to erase Coco's memory, Agott begins to protest, claiming it was all a mistake. Just as Coco's memory is about to be erased, Richeh appears and lunges at Easthies, halting the process. Coco and Agott begin to tumble down the cliff before Tetia saves them by creating the Serpent's Sandbed beneath them. Tetia yells at Easthies for not listening to Agott and Coco as two members of the Moralis Knights realize their Silver White Capture Banners have been burned by Richeh. Richeh then slides down the cliff face using his Sylph Shoes, declaring that "there is nothing I hate more than adults who treat children like things instead of people." Tetia makes sure her friends are alright, but Easthies refuses to give up.
Easthies continued speaking about the delicate balance witches maintain in their world, concluding that no exceptions could be made. As she spoke, Qifrey approached from behind and pressed his sword against her neck.
Winding paths The belly of the beast Follow the smoke The price of knowledge Relations Qifrey Qifrey is Coco's teacher. They met when he stopped by her mother's clothing store and later saved her from the forbidden magic she herself had cast. He guides her through the world of witches and magic. Unbeknownst to Coco, Qifrey is using her as a clue to find the Witches of the Wing-Wing Hat.
Agott Agott is one of Coco's fellow apprentices and also an apprentice of Qifrey. Initially, the relationship between Agott and Coco was strained, as Agott looked down on her for being unfamiliar with the world of witches and naive in the practice of magic, something Agott had tirelessly strived to perfect. Agott was also the one who made Coco perform the first test, the Consent of the Crown, so that Coco could earn her place in the workshop alongside the other apprentices.
But Agott and Coco's relationship has improved over time thanks to their collaboration. From escaping the High-Brimmed Hats' dragon to saving the carriage travelers, Agott has begun to see Coco as her equal and worthy of being a witch.
Tetia Tetia is one of Coco's fellow apprentices and also an apprentice of Qifrey, and the first person Coco met upon arriving at the workshop. Since Tetia was already an outgoing and friendly person, she and Coco quickly became friends.
Richeh Richeh is one of Coco's fellow apprentices and also a disciple of Qifrey. Coco admires her individualistic approach to magic and frequently marvels at Richeh's creations. In turn, Richeh has quietly shown admiration for Coco's ingenuity in creating spells and solving problems, despite her initial reluctance to acknowledge the spells of others. Richeh has also been visibly touched by Coco's awe at her spells.
Richeh repeatedly showed patience with Coco's inexperience. Due to her reserved nature, they didn't usually interact directly during the first few days after Coco's arrival. However, when Coco inadvertently led the others into the High-Brimmed Hats' trap and they encountered a dragon, Richeh was the only one who didn't reprimand her. She also showed no prejudice toward Coco's escape plan, despite not being as close to her as Tetia.
When Coco unknowingly pressured her to read a spellbook, causing a confrontation between Richeh and Qifrey, Richeh didn't blame her and opened up about her reservations regarding studying when Coco sought her out to apologize.
During the witches' retrial on the Shield's Sincerity, Richeh quickly sided with Coco's plan, showing exasperation towards Agott for the latter's persistent antagonism towards the novice student.
Olruggio
Olruggio (オルーギオ, Orūgio) is a sorcerer specializing in fire magic who serves as the Watchful Eye of Qifrey's workshop. He has a gruff way of speaking, but his magic is often described as "warm."
She has created many magical objects, such as the Shining Stone Path, the Cozy Stone, and the Burning Needle Wand. Her specialty is fire-based magic. Appearance Olruggio has dark hair, blue eyes, a sparse beard, and a generally unkempt appearance. He usually has a slightly annoyed and grumpy expression.
She wears a long white shirt with wide sleeves and a long black skirt with a gold belt. It has laces that she uses to hold up the sleeves while she works. Her cloak is dark with blue and gold details, and is made of a thick, velvety fabric. Due to its weight, she tends to hunch over. [1] Her cloak has a large, pointed hood that she can wear over her cap.
The tassel on the tip of her hat is a light-colored pom-pom, which originally belonged to Qifrey. The two witches swapped theirs around the time of their Third Trial.
Personality Although he initially appears brusque and stern, Olruggio is a genuinely kind and caring person. He looks after Qifrey and the students in the workshop, creating magical objects to help them sleep and assisting them with their magic.
He is shown to be dedicated to helping others, especially commoners. When hired by the nobility, Olruggio infiltrates nearby settlements to help improve infrastructure and address other problems they may face. [2] He is shown to be at odds with the laws that restrict witches from helping to their full potential.
Olruggio is known for his poor management of deadlines and for overworking, staying up late to complete assignments. This could be due to childhood trauma that instilled in him a need to help and save others [3]. He neglects his own health, admitting that he sleeps and eats poorly, and drinks too much alcohol. He emphasizes the importance of sleep for Qifrey's apprentices.
He gets easily upset and lies when he says he doesn't like compliments. Although at first he strongly objected to the girls calling him their master, he stops protesting during the story and only occasionally says it to people who aren't his students.
Inventions Olruggio has invented numerous devices, including:
Luminous stone path Welcoming stone Sewing needle wand Link rings Ghostly Fireball Sphere Plot Arc of the watchful eye Olruggio unexpectedly encounters Coco after finishing a project he was working on. Upon learning of her exposure to forbidden magic, he attempts to hand her over to the Moralis Knights. Qifrey stops him, and Olruggio listens to Coco's story and reluctantly accepts her as an apprentice. Later, Coco is in his room trying to catch Brushbuddy. After discovering that Olruggio invented the Path of the Luminous Stone, she explains that it was his invention that sparked her love for magic. Olruggio dismisses her, but seems to reflect on Coco's passion for magic.
River rescue arch Olruggio is present when Dagda arrives at the Atelier and asks for help. When Agott insists on joining, Olruggio contradicts Qifrey and takes her on horseback to the disaster site. He orders her to help dry the victims while he opens a portal for the others. When Agott protests, Olruggio tells her that Qifrey was right to think she wasn't prepared and asks her to reflect on why she uses magic.
He and Qifrey rescue those still trapped in the sinking train cars. Once the rescue is complete, he joins Qifrey, Richeh, and Tetia to travel upriver and assess the damage, leaving Agott and Coco to care for the victims.
When the Moralis Knights capture Agott and Coco, Olruggio comes to their rescue. While Qifrey confronts the Knights, Olruggio intervenes, reprimanding them for their behavior. He reminds them that a witch's duty is to help people and that they should behave like the apprentices they are helping to rescue the caravan members.
Following the incident, he tells Qifrey that perhaps he is being too lenient with his students by having enrolled Agott in the next exam despite his worrying behavior.
Second test arc of the staff Olruggio appears after Richeh runs to him for help. He arrives just in time to protect Qifrey and Alaira from the Sasaran attack.
Later, Olruggio helps Qifrey on his way out of Serpentback Cave. He defends the apprentices from the attention of the Moralis Knights, insisting that Qifrey needs urgent medical attention and that his apprentices should not be questioned until they have rested.
Arch of the Great Hall Olruggio and the apprentices are escorted to the Great Hall. Olruggio takes Qifrey to the Healing Spire, where he and the other apprentices rest. In the morning, he and the girls travel to meet Beldaruit. After this meeting, Olruggio meets with the Moralis Knights to recount the events at Serpentback Cave. He omits details of what happened to Euini and Alaira, as well as Brimhat's interest in Coco. Later, Utowin confronts him, convinced that Olruggio knows more than he lets on.
Olruggio keeps an eye on Qifrey for the remainder of their time in the Great Hall. He gives the girls advice about the test Beldaruit has set for them, recommending that they treat him as a client and tailor their magic to his wishes. He also gives Coco some pointers as she tries to create her own gadget.
Later, Olruggio discovers a spell on Qifrey's glasses and realizes his vision is failing. When Qifrey awakens, Olruggio confronts him about this secret and his pursuit of the Brimhats. He asks Qifrey if he cares for Coco as his apprentice or as a means to an end—to seek revenge. This confrontation is interrupted by the revelation that Coco had gone to the Tower of Tomes ahead of schedule. He and Qifrey rush toward the Tower of Tomes, though Olruggio stays behind as Qifrey runs to Coco's rescue.
Reassured by Qifrey's affection for his apprentices, Olruggio confronts him once more, insisting that he be allowed to participate in the hunt for the Brimhats. Qifrey confirms to Olruggio that he is right, but then places his own cap on Olruggio's head to erase his memory of the conversation. Olruggio awakens, having forgotten everything Qifrey revealed about their objective.
Silver Night Festival Prologue Arch Silver Eve's Bow Relations Qifrey Qifrey and Olruggio are childhood friends and seem to have a great deal of trust in each other. Despite being the Watchful Eye of the Atelier and having sworn to report misdeeds to the Moral Knights, Olruggio is so loyal to Qifrey that he breaks this oath several times: he doesn't take Coco with him after discovering she was an outsider in the witches' society and he lies to the Moral Knights about what happened to Euini during the Second Trial.
Olruggio's faith is not absolute. After discovering the hidden enchantment in Qifrey's glasses and his weakened eye, he realizes that Qifrey must continue pursuing the Brimhats. This makes him doubt Qifrey's intentions in keeping Coco as an apprentice. However, seeing Qifrey's genuine affection for Coco, Olruggio decides to help him and promises to do so regardless of Qifrey's objective. Qifrey confirms his true motive for searching for the Brimhats and then erases Olruggio's memory. Qifrey sadly states that he is sure Olruggio will eventually forgive him "again," implying that this has happened several times.

Qifrey
Qifrey (キーフリー, Kīfurī) is a sorcerer and Coco's master. He runs a workshop and currently has four apprentices. He was once an apprentice of Beldaruit. Appearance Qifrey is a young man with white hair and blue eyes. He usually wears a white robe fastened with a brass-colored ornament, as well as matching brass buttons at the collar. He wears black boots and small glasses attached to his face with natural resin. [1] The left lens is clear and the right one is dark. Underneath his robe, Qifrey wears a long-sleeved black turtleneck sweater.
Its pointed cap is white with a long black ribbon. A button fastens a lower fabric panel at its base.
SPOILER WARNING STARTING AT CHAPTER 36
Chapter 36 reveals that Qifrey was robbed of his right eye and memories by the Winged Caps when he was a child. He uses his hair and glasses to conceal the scar and the loss of his right eye, as well as to enhance the vision in his left eye.
Personality Qifrey is a caring and patient teacher who values the individuality of his students. He is a passionate educator, enthusiastic about Coco's progress as a witch and always willing to answer questions. His concern and respect for his apprentices are evident in his willingness to entrust Agott with the second test and to encourage Richeh to excel. He is protective of his students, standing up to the Moralis Knights and risking his own safety to defend them.
However, Qifrey's obsession with the Brimhats can lead him to neglect his apprentices. He took Coco on as an apprentice motivated by following a lead and abandoned his students in Serpentback Cave to pursue the Brimhat Sasaran. It wasn't until Olruggio reminded him that his students are his priority that he was able to refocus on their well-being.
As part of this, Qifrey possesses a hidden tenacity and a willingness to act against the morals of his society.
Qifrey hates water and getting wet, and claims that the reason he became so skilled with water magic was to control that which he feared.
Talent Qifrey is an exceptionally powerful witch, knowledgeable in multiple spells, specializing mainly in water-related magic, being able to conjure aquatic figures such as dragons, horses or water whips.
Magical objects Rain-Cutting Sword: Qifrey possesses a unique magic sword whose surface is inscribed with many tiny seals that give it the ability to deflect water with a slash. Palm Dragon Teacup: Qifrey invented the Palm Dragon Teacup, which later became the property of Beldaruit. Notebook: Qifrey has a notebook with a magical mechanism that shrinks it when it's zipped so it fits in his pocket. When the zip is opened, the notebook returns to its normal size. Other stamps inside the notebook can enlarge it to make it a giant notebook. Plot A touch of magic How Coco imagines Qifrey will "draw" the magic. How Coco imagines Qifrey will "draw" the magic.
Qifrey meets Coco while visiting her mother's tailor shop. Coco offers to cut her order, impressing Qifrey with her focus and precision. Qifrey is curious about Coco's interest in magic, which leads her to listen to the story of how she acquired a book from a witch. Before she can ask further questions, a loud crash outside interrupts them as some local boys accidentally wreck a Pegasus carriage.
Qifrey volunteers to fix the carriage, revealing himself to be a sorcerer. Coco begs her mother to let her use his workshop, which she reluctantly agrees to. Qifrey tasks Coco with making sure no one sees him casting spells. Unbeknownst to him, Coco sees him drawing, revealing the secret of magic.
Later that night, Qifrey is still troubled by the book Coco told him about. Realizing something, he quickly travels back in time to pull Coco away from a dangerous spell she copied from his book. He yells at her, demanding to know what spell she drew. He and Coco watch as Coco's mother emerges and is petrified in crystal along with the rest of their house. Coco struggles to reach her mother as Qifrey tells her he must erase her memory. Coco's pleas and her question about who will save her mother make him realize that Coco is his only clue to discovering more about his book and the Witch in the High-Brimmed Hat who gave it to her. He makes her promise to keep the secret of the magic before telling her he will teach her magic as a witch. Qifrey shows Coco the Tower of Tomes through a window in the door. Qifrey shows Coco the Tower of Tomes through a window in the door.
Qifrey hires another Pegasus chariot to take Coco to his workshop. He tells her he planted bramble seeds to keep people away from his house and his mother. He takes her inside and gives her clean clothes. After asking two of his apprentices, Tetia and Richeh, to leave them alone, he tells her the story of magic.
Qifrey explains the Day of the Pact, the decision to erase all but a select few's knowledge of magic. Before the Pact, magic was common and widely known, which led to its devastating use. Now, witches keep their magical knowledge secret and are forbidden from breaking this law. When an outsider discovers it, their memory of magic is erased.
Coco begs Qifrey to teach her everything about forbidden magic. He explains that forbidden magic is any magic cast upon the human body or mind, with the exception of memory-erasing magic under specific circumstances. He also tells her that the Tower of Tomes is her best bet for finding answers, explaining that the book she possessed earlier contained a copy. However, she will need to train as a witch before she can face the tower, and he suggests she learn a more benevolent magic than forbidden spells. He then escorts her to her room before leaving her to speak via communicator with an unknown person about Coco's condition, thanking them for approving her apprenticeship.
Later, Qifrey teaches Coco the basics of magic. She gives her the materials needed to draw spells and shows her how to cast them. Although Coco is hesitant, Qifrey encourages her to try her first spell, which leads to a mishap with Agott. Afterward, Qifrey heads to the Great Hall. Qifrey gives Coco his robe and hat. Qifrey gives Coco his robe and hat.
Upon returning to her workshop, Tetia rushes to tell her that Coco has already departed for the Dadah Mountains to undertake the first test. Qifrey runs to the window, exclaiming that it's far too dangerous for her. However, once she adjusts the mechanism, Coco is there waiting with the Diadem Herb in her hand, indicating that she has passed the test. Qifrey chides her for the danger she exposed herself to before handing her her robe and hat, telling her that she is now an apprentice.
Probably days later, Qifrey sees Coco struggling with her drawing and wonders if her ink wand isn't right for her. She decides to take the girls to the Star-Spangled Sword in Kalhn to buy her a new pen. There, Qifrey introduces Coco to the shop owner, Mr. Nolnoa. Mr. Nolnoa shows the girls how magic ink is made, and Qifrey explains that it's made from the sap of a silverwood tree. When the girls run off to look at pens, Qifrey stays behind to place an order for paper with Mr. Nolnoa. Later, Qifrey notices that her students have disappeared, to which Tartah replies that she saw them running after a witch wearing an eye mask.
Trial by fire Professor Qifrey conjuring a water dragon. Professor Qifrey conjuring a water dragon.
Qifrey's apprentices find themselves trapped in a dangerous situation. After following sightings of a brimhat, they end up in a mysterious stone labyrinth and are suddenly pursued by a giant, scaly dragon. Coco is distraught, wondering how to help herself and her friends escape, and asks Qifrey for advice. After following their tracks and searching for clues with Tartah and Mr. Nolnoa, Qifrey deduces that forbidden magic and brimhats are involved. He asks Tartah if she remembers anything about the witch they followed, but Tartah recalls nothing more. Qifrey soon notices someone tugging at his robes, which is Coco's Brushbuddy. The professor asks the Brushbuddy if it knows where the girls went, and after confirming this, they follow the small creature to where it remembers seeing them. The Brushbuddy stops in an alley, and Qifrey, Tartah, and Mr. Nolnoa follow it to search for clues about the apprentice's disappearance. Professor Qifrey then remembers that the Brushbuddy can smell magic ink. Noticing the disturbance in the alley's flagstones, Qifrey is struck by a magic spell that opens a portal to the place the girls were sent to. The girls see the portal open and continue up the staircase they were on to reach it, but Agott suddenly falls over the edge, and just as she begins to fall without her sylph shoes, Qifrey uses his own to catch her. He quickly conjures a water dragon and subdues the giant dragon below them. While the other apprentices quickly join Qifrey, Coco is captured by Iguin, the Brimhat wizard she had been searching for. He whispers words to her about the "Test" he had put her through and how he will teach her magic that Qifrey will never learn, before leaving her back on the stairs.
Coco wakes up in the alley where they had all vanished. Qifrey, her fellow apprentice, and Tartah surround her as Qifrey explains that he found her unconscious on the portal city steps. Seeing her confusion, Qifrey is irritated at the possibility that the wide-brimmed hat might have stolen her memory. He questions her, then panics, before Coco confirms that she does have her memory and is just a little disoriented. Coco confirms that she remembers and begins apologizing to everyone for getting them into this mess. Qifrey tells Coco that Tetia believed she had saved them all, telling her that her ideas are as important to magic as how a quill is wielded. Qifrey further comforts her before bringing up Mr. Nolnoa, who has just arrived. He makes a request of Mr. Nolnoa: to find out what else was mixed with the magical ink used on the glyphs on the slab, not to mention what happened to the Moralis Knights here. After sincerely asking Mr. Nolnoa again, the old man states whether Qifrey wants him to keep secret the past events or the future events that may arise from this matter.

Qifrey and his apprentices return to their workshop, and Coco is resting by the window, reflecting on her creative block and lack of enthusiasm. Coco dozes off before Professor Qifrey surprises her by letting her lean against him. He mentions that the apprentice might catch a cold sleeping there, but Coco tells him she hadn't intended to sleep and can't help feeling hopeless and overwhelmed by the amount of studying she has to do. Coco begins to wonder if she'll ever see any improvement in her magic studies, before Qifrey offers her a break to join him for a minute. They both go down to the kitchen, where Qifrey takes out his magic pot and shows Coco how it keeps food fresh, even years after it was made. Professor Qifrey displays the glyph on the underside of the lid and demonstrates the spell on a couple of potatoes. The professor asks Coco to bake the potatoes using a Pyrenean spell she learned.
After a couple of tries with the spell, she bakes the potato at the correct temperature. Qifrey asks Coco if she's tired of all the spells she just drew. To his surprise, Coco realizes she's no longer lethargic. Qifrey tells Coco that water magic was like the fire spells he had learned and progressed with. He says his motivation for learning water magic wasn't just that he couldn't swim, but also that he hated being wet. Qifrey says he practiced water magic a lot; therefore, he wouldn't have to get wet washing things. Qifrey tells Coco that if she feels impatient and anxious to progress, the best thing to do is simply live life, and there's no better teacher.

They both agree that cooking is great before Richeh and Tetia come downstairs drawn by the delicious aroma of roasted potatoes, and they offer to help prepare the potatoes. The professor then suggests that Coco try fixing the potatoes. Coco and Qifrey work enthusiastically to prepare the potatoes. Once they finish and admire their work, Coco suggests eating outdoors. Agott then appears, and Coco asks him to join their picnic plans. Agott says no, that he prefers to eat while he works. He then comments on the weather outside, noting that it's pouring rain. Tetia and Coco talk about how disappointed they are, but Qifrey asks why they should give up. The professor uses a spell to dispel the water and stay dry in the rain, allowing the group to continue with their picnic plans. Qifrey and his three apprentices eat dinner under a bridge near the workshop.
As the group finishes eating, they notice the rain has stopped and admire the beautiful view before them. Coco gets up and says she's going to find Agott so they can enjoy the view together. When Coco reaches the main door of the workshop, an unknown man opens it and blocks her way. The man asks Coco who she is and says he's never seen her before. Coco becomes anxious at the strange man's questions, and when Qifrey calls her name, she hides behind his cloak and says she's Professor Qifrey's disciple. Qifrey greets the man, addressing him as Olruggio. Olruggio is irritated by the introduction of a new student and reprimands Qifrey for gaining more disciples while he was distracted. Qifrey tells Olruggio that Coco is a special case because of her involvement in forbidden magic. Olruggio flies into a rage at the mention of forbidden magic and firmly grips Coco's wrist. He tells Coco to come with him, stating that he wants nothing to do with wide-brimmed hats. Olruggio tells Qifrey that he will hand Coco over to the Moralis Knights, which frightens Coco.
Olruggio continues to pull Coco while she begs him to wait. Qifrey stops Olruggio's plan by casting a rain spell and declares that he will not allow Coco to be taken away, not even by his dear friend. Olruggio stops, surprised, and decides to let Qifrey explain the situation after the serious reaction. Olruggio, Qifrey, and the three apprentices return to the workshop to dry off. Olruggio and Qifrey sit with Coco by the fireplace to discuss why Coco was chosen as a disciple. Professor Qifrey takes the opportunity to introduce Coco to Olruggio, explaining that he is the Watchful Eye of the workshop, meaning his job is to be a second pair of eyes to ensure that no potential problems are hidden. He explains that small workshops on the outskirts of cities can easily become isolated from the rest of magical society, so, as a safety measure, they enforce such rules. Olruggio rebukes Qifrey for the irony of his statements, telling him that's precisely what he's asking for. Qifrey explains that if Coco's memory were erased, they would have lost all the clues about the picture book of forbidden magic and the wide-brimmed hats. Olruggio firmly tells Qifrey that it's not his job to investigate forbidden magic and that it's best left to the Moral Knights.
Professor Qifrey comforting Coco. Professor Qifrey comforting Coco.
Coco's face shows confusion, and Qifrey asks her about it, wondering if she wants an explanation of what the Moral Knights are. Qifrey proceeds to explain that the Moral Knights, also known as the Magical Security Council, are an organization of witches who strive to protect magic under the laws established on the Day of the Conspiracy. She explains that those who tamper with forbidden magic have their memories permanently erased, regardless of the situation. Qifrey says that if Coco were handed over to them, they would erase all her memories and her adoration of magic. Tension grips the trio before Qifrey comforts Coco, telling her that she's a good girl with a good work ethic. She says it's not her fault what happened to her and decides that if Coco's memories must be erased, hers should be too. Olruggio surprises Tetia and Richeh by eavesdropping on their conversation before accepting Qifrey's decision. Olruggio then warns that, as soon as anything happens, he won't hesitate to denounce Coco to the audience, as that's his job. Olruggio leaves, and Qifrey reassures Coco, explaining that Olruggio is so busy meeting deadlines for creating magical objects that he rarely leaves his workshop.
The professor comforts Coco before taking her to have a bath so she doesn't catch a cold. Coco calls for her Brushbuddy, but finds him soaking wet. The Brushbuddy runs off, and Coco chases after him, but he finds the Watchful Eye's workshop to hide in. Coco panics, but follows him and enters the workshop despite the sign on the door that says otherwise. Olruggio scolds her for ignoring the sign and throws her Brushbuddy, now fluffy and completely dry, at her. Olruggio, the magical bond of heat, beeps to dry Coco as well, and admits that it's also his job to look after her health. The Watchful Eye tells her not to touch anything and to leave, but Coco excitedly admires the magic of the luminous stone path and touches the cobblestones. Coco explains that the path's spell inspired her to love magic and thanks him for creating it. Olruggio gets nervous at Coco's excitement and kicks her out of his room.

Later, Agott is seen studying in his room, but he struggles because of loud noises coming from downstairs. He goes to investigate the source of the noise, only to find the other apprentices guarding the door. He sees a desperate man at the door, pleading for help. Professor Qifrey observes him as he explains that his son was in a horse-drawn carriage that collapsed on the bridge they were on during a severe storm. Qifrey agrees to help when Agott runs to him and begs for assistance. Qifrey tells him it will be dangerous and that he should stay in the workshop, but Agott refuses, saying he can help. Qifrey says he is worried that Agott will mature too quickly and accelerate his apprenticeship, but Olruggio enters and says he can go to the site first to set up a portal so the others can arrive as soon as possible, and that Agott can go with him to help. Professor Qifrey expresses his concerns about this arrangement, but ultimately allows it. Olruggio and Agott mount their horses and race toward the spot by the river. Many, unaware of what has happened, watch in terror as the raging river sweeps the carriage away. Olruggio orders Agott to dry and warm the witness's clothes and hands him some rings for drying. Olruggio warns him that his impatience will be his downfall and suggests he reconsider his motives for helping if he wants to boast. His response infuriates Agott, who reflects on his situation and vows to prove his maturity.

Professor Qifrey and the other apprentices arrive through the portal, and Qifrey springs into action, leaping into the river. He wields his Sword of Rain, a blade infused with water-repellent spells, to part the river's waters as Olruggio enters the carriage to rescue the people inside. Olruggio dives in to pull the last person from the carriage and tells Qifrey he can release the river. Olruggio and Qifrey rejoice in their teamwork, while the boy is reunited with his father. The boy, Custas, calls out to his father, Dagda. To Qifrey's surprise, he sees his disciples marveling at his Sword of Rain and explains how the sword works. Coco and Tetia ask him to hold the sword, but Qifrey politely declines, explaining that it is very dangerous. Qifrey assures them he'll explain more about the function later, while Olruggio says he'll go upriver to make sure everything is alright, taking Richeh with him. Professor Qifrey takes Tetia downstream to check the damage, leaving Agott and Coco to help the Strangers who remained behind.
While they are helping, they see Custas rappelling down a rope back to the river in an attempt to retrieve his belongings left behind. Despite Dagda's shouts of protest, he continues toward the riverbank. To everyone's horror, a landslide suddenly sweeps across their path. Agott finds Coco struggling to stay on the riverbank after learning she was swept away by the landslide. Before Coco can tell Agott that Custas is trapped under a huge boulder, Agott makes sure he's alright. Dagda begs Agott for help, as she has experience with magic, and Agott wrestles with the opportunity to give it her all, but quickly realizes the dilemma between concealing the magic and saving Coco and Custas. Agott asks Coco to describe their situation by the river and quickly realizes that Coco can't do much because her magical supplies are getting soaked. Agott is at a loss as to how to proceed. While this situation persists, in the Great Hall, Lord Easthies hears a report of the commotion caused by water magic near the Swampwood. He listens and tells the messengers to head there.
An investigation in ink Relations Coconut palm Qifrey first met Coco when she ran away at the sight of a pegasus carriage, and he was at her doorstep to place an order. He seemed intrigued by her fascination with magic, but at first, he didn't pay much attention to her until he recognized her as a potential lead to the Brimmed Hats. His intentions in taking Coco on as a student have been questioned, but he has stated that while he initially considered her merely a lead, he now values her more as a student. He feels a deep affection for Coco, as he does for all his students.
Agott Agott is one of Qifrey's students. Qifrey and Agott often clash due to Agott's stubbornness and Qifrey's emphasis on her safety, as seen when Qifrey tells Agott she can't accompany her on a real job, though she eventually convinces her otherwise. Despite this, Agott is a loyal and dedicated student, and Qifrey deeply appreciates her, as she does all her students.
Tetia Tetia is one of Qifrey's students. She is the most enthusiastic of them all. She demonstrates great trust in him, as seen when, suspecting Coco is in danger, she immediately goes to Qifrey for help. She seems to be the one who disagrees with Qifrey the least and fully trusts his judgment. He appreciates her deeply, as he does all his students.
Richeh One of Qifrey's students. Although not as openly moody as Agott, she is just as stubborn and often argues with Qifrey. She is particularly angry with him when he forces her to take the second test, disregarding Qifrey's belief that it is for her own good, and insisting that Qifrey promised never to force her to do anything she didn't want to do under his tutelage. Despite their disagreements, Richeh eventually changes her mind and trusts Qifrey again after the events of the second test. It is revealed that Richeh didn't always study with Qifrey, but transferred to his workshop after he and Olruggio found her crying from the verbal abuse of her former teacher and requested a transfer. Qifrey is very fond of her, as he is of all his students.
Olruggio Olruggio, Qifrey's childhood friend and the Watchful Eye of the workshop, maintains a close relationship with Qifrey, who was his first, and possibly only, friend when he was accepted as a sorcerer's apprentice. Olruggio is undoubtedly the reason Qifrey chose to specialize in water magic despite his fear of it, advising him to learn to control his fears. [2] It is implied that, before Qifrey met Coco, Olruggio was actively involved in the apprentice selection, as he is surprised to find her unannounced. Olruggio insists that his job is to keep Qifrey out of trouble and help him wherever he is in danger, though Qifrey seems to prefer keeping Olruggio at arm's length for his own safety and peace of mind.
Trivia Qifrey uses the Japanese masculine pronoun "good boy" 僕(boku). Qifrey is actually afraid of water and doesn't like getting wet, so he learned to manipulate it as a way to overcome his fear. [ 2 ] According to a sketch page by Shirahama Kamome, Qifrey tolerates alcohol well. He gets drunk, but he's careful not to let his guard down.
types of witches
In the universe of the Witch Hat Atelier manga, magic users are mainly divided into three factions according to their laws and stances on magical secrecy: the Pointy Hat Witches, the Wing Cap Group, and the Moralis Knights. Witches with Pointy Hats Law enforcement: Official group that follows the strict rules established after Covenant Day. Protectors of the secret: Their goal is to prevent "ignorant" people (ordinary people) from learning or discovering magic. Memory erasure: If an ordinary human witnesses magic, their memories are immediately erased.
Witch Hat Atelier Wiki +1 Brimhats Group Rebels and outlaws: Witches who broke the rules of the Great Hall. Forbidden magic: They experiment without reservation with forbidden arts, such as altering bodies or modifying memory at will. No filters: They have no problem showing the magic to those who don't know it, seeking to change the established order.
Witch Hat Atelier Wiki +2 Moral Knights Security Force: An elite order of pointy-hatted warlocks dedicated to maintaining order. Judges and executioners: They track magical crimes, use of forbidden magic, and violations of the pact. Strict punishment: They apply severe sanctions and erase the memories of offenders or dangerous witnesses.
The Wing Cap Group
The group of dark witches or renegades in Witch Hat Atelier is called the Brimmed Caps Group (known in English as Brimmed Caps or in Spanish also referred to as the Brimmed Caps).
Main features Forbidden magic: They use spells banned by magical laws, such as direct attack magic and body alteration. Magic tattoos: They practice the forbidden act of engraving magic seals directly onto their own bodies or those of other people. Ideology: They reject the strict rules and agreements of the Council and Pact Day, seeking to make the secrets of magic available to everyone without restrictions.
The Winged Caps, the Winged Cap Witches, or simply Winged Caps, are a coven of rogue witches who reject the rules of Pact Day and use Forbidden Magic, including offensive and body-altering magic, as well as the forbidden act of tattooing spells on their own or others' bodies. They are the main antagonists of the series. Their name comes from their hats, which have long wings or other adornments to conceal their faces, unlike the Pointed Cap Witches, whose hats have folded-down wings.
Some members, like Iguin and Sasaran, express interest in Coco becoming a user of forbidden magic, claiming she is a "child of hope." In the past, Iguin was the one who gave her the picture book that turned her mother into crystal.
Their exact structure and motivations are mostly unknown, but they appear to organize themselves into large groups and then split into smaller groups to carry out their plans. Some Edge-Breasted Cap Witches, such as Ininia, Restys, and Custas, do not show any alliance with Iguin and his group until chapter 55.
