Personality Vanitas seems to take nothing seriously, and almost always has a playful smile on his face. He acts impulsively most of the time, and his plans are usually reckless. He found amusement in Noah Archiviste's unusual reactions to his taste in everything. Despite this, he is also capable of showing seriousness when the situation called for it. He frequently yells at Noah, even threatening to kill the vampire when Noah asks if he can drink his blood.

He can be quite flirtatious at times, as seen in his behavior around Jeanne. In fact, during their first encounter, Vanitas had declared his love for her and kissed her. His casual flirting stems from his unwavering belief that no one could ever fall in love with him.

Beneath his playful demeanor, Vanitas harbored a deep contempt for both humans and vampires, but he hated himself more than anyone. He claimed not to care about Noah, yet he flew into a rage when Noah risked his life to save Vanitas's. He hated being vulnerable with people, refused to sleep with anyone he didn't trust, and became angry with Noah when he tried to watch him sleep. He liked high places and acted with complete disregard for his own safety.

Relations Noah Archivist Noah Archivist and Vanitas first met at La Baleine while Noah was protecting Amelia. Although Noah distrusted Vanitas and fought against him, the animosity faded when he saw Vanitas heal the young woman from Malnomen. Noah called Vanitas's ability "phenomenal" and became excited, while Vanitas laughed at his enthusiasm before declaring that he liked Noah. Despite Noah's appreciation for the human's abilities, he declined the offer to become his "shield" and continued to do so despite Vanitas's persistent questions, something Noah found "annoying." Although Noah wanted to keep Vanitas's Book to discover more about it, he stated that keeping Vanitas himself would be

Vanitas would be "physiologically impossible" because listening to someone he dislikes would be dangerous for his mental health. Despite this, he agrees to work with Vanitas, claiming that he isn't helping him, but that Vanitas is helping him.

Since then, they've maintained a complicated relationship. Noah and Vanitas have extremely different personalities and approaches to life, which leads to several conflicts between them. Despite all this, they make a good team and have come to genuinely care for one another. They're even often in tune with each other's emotions.

Mikhail Mikhail and Vanitas were Dr. Moreau's test subjects when they were children. When Misha first arrived at the lab, Moreau told Vanitas to look after the boy. The two quickly became close, with Misha calling Vanitas his "big brother" and sharing the same bed in his cell.

Upon learning that Mikhail would be part of a deadly experiment in the laboratory, Vanitas told Moreau that he would be willing to participate in the experiment in Misha's place. Vanitas collapsed and became ill shortly after escaping the laboratory with Misha and Luna, which Luna suggested was because he finally relaxed after spending time in the lab.

Appearance Noah is a tall, slender young man, standing at 187 cm. He has dark skin, a long, angular face, thin, almond-shaped, purple eyes, and fine eyebrows. His hair is white and usually short, with a center-parted fringe that extends to the sides. Like all vampires, his eyes occasionally turn red.

Although Noah changes his outfit several times throughout the series, his usual attire consists of white trousers, a long-sleeved black shirt, a black bow tie, and a light-colored waistcoat. He also typically wears a black belt, white gloves, and white knee-high boots. He owns two coats that he frequently wears: a mid-length white trench coat and, if the former gets dirty, a short white tailcoat.

Personality Noah is a simple villager who tends to blindly follow any path that catches his eye, according to Dominique de Sade. Everything he sees is new to him, and he is easily amazed by spectacular sights. He is often described as childlike by others because of his tendency to get lost and easily distracted; this forgetfulness often causes him to leave behind his cat, Murr, who in turn tends to scratch Noah in retaliation for being forgotten. He is also extremely kind, as demonstrated by his willingness to help Amelia Ruth during her imprisonment and execution, and his general concern for the well-being of others.

Deep down, he has a profound determination to save those close to him and ensure they don't suffer a horrific fate like his friends did when he was a child. Noah acknowledges that he couldn't save Louis, Mina, and the other children, but he wishes to prevent such deaths in the future. While Noah's idealism and morality won him many allies, they also hinder him in certain decision-making processes. He couldn't quickly defeat Astolfo, despite being much stronger than him, because of his fears regarding the battle with the children.

He is instinctive and possesses great emotional intelligence, generally using his instincts to guide his actions. At times, he can be impulsive, especially when fighting against what he perceives as wrong, and he morally opposes acts he considers dishonorable, such as when Vanitas suggests taking Maria captive or allowing Moreau to gouge out Vanitas's eye.

Dominique de Sade Noé is incredibly close to Dominique de Sade, and they both grew up together at the Château de Sade alongside Louis de Sade. She was one of his first friends. The three of them used to spend a lot of time together, and Noé and Dominique were always kind to each other. She sympathized with his difficult past. The two often played together, and even danced under the blue moon. After Louis's death, the two seemed to grow even closer, with Noé encouraging Domi to grow her hair out again and giving her a boost of self-confidence.

Noah sees Dominique as the most precious thing in his life and something he needs to protect. He even goes so far as to drink Vanitas's blood without her consent, something Noah has abhorred since the beginning of the manga, in order to protect the vampire. Part of this desire to protect Domi seems to stem from his failure to protect Louis.

As the story unfolds, Noah begins to realize how little he knows about Dominique's true mental state. He was unaware of Domi's verbally abusive relationship with the rest of her family, and he's completely shocked when he learns that Dominique wishes she had died instead of Louis. This lack of communication leads Noah to believe that he has once again let down a longtime family friend.

Louis de Sade Noé and Louis de Sade had an incredibly close relationship, and although Louis initially seemed antagonistic and insulted Noé's trust in humans, they later developed a very strong bond. Louis and his sister Dominique were Noé's first friends, and the three played together constantly as children. As they grew older and Louis's mental state visibly deteriorated, Noé became increasingly worried about his friend. He tried to communicate with him, but the two were unable to properly talk to each other about what was happening. Louis was eventually beheaded in Noé's arms.

Noah currently blames himself in part for Louis's death. He wishes he had had more power as Archivist and had learned more about Louis's feelings, and wishes he had been able to speak to him properly. Part of this guilt manifests in Noah's current desire to protect Dominique. He frequently dreams of his happy childhood with Louis and Dominique, and he despises Naenia for taking Louis away from him and Dominique.

Noah's Master Little is known about Noah's true relationship with his Master. Noah speaks of him in kind terms, as he was responsible for buying him out of slavery and raising the young vampire. Despite being frequently away from his castle in Averoigne, his Master found time to teach him about vampire creation, the world's formula, vampire lore and culture, how to rewrite the world's formulas, and how to fight and defend himself. Despite all this, the Master's true feelings toward Noah remain unknown.
