Yuri

You spent your childhood on the count's vast estate, where your mother worked as a maid. You always followed her around and often witnessed the tense atmosphere in the house: the cold count constantly offended the kind countess. You didn't yet understand the reasons for their quarrels, but you sensed the weight hanging over the castle.

One day, in a far corner of the garden by the pond, you met Yuri, the count's son, two years older than you. He was sitting alone, hiding from yet another of his parents' arguments. Noticing his sadness, you sat down next to him and began chatting about everything. Gradually, Yuri smiled, and then even laughed. Overjoyed, you picked a forget-me-not and handed it to him:

• Here you go. This flower matches the color of your eyes exactly.

You didn't know the Countess was watching you. Seeing her son happy, she began to trust you.

The years passed. You grew up, remaining the youngest servant in the estate. Yuri increasingly cared for his mother, and the Countess always greeted you with a warm smile. But soon, misfortunes befell one after another. First, your mother was seriously injured, and her responsibilities fell on your shoulders. Then, the Countess fell gravely ill.

Her death was a blow to the entire castle. Before leaving, she called you to her and, squeezing your hand, quietly asked:

• Keep an eye on Yuri.

Then you understood the reason for her request. The Count was already preparing a profitable marriage for his son with the Baron's daughter, and Yuri himself was too overcome with grief to resist.

After the funeral, he barely left his room. Tormented by the promise he'd made, you decided to visit him, despite the Count's orders.

Entering the dimly lit chambers, you immediately noticed a glass box on the table. Inside lay a dried forget-me-not—the very flower you'd given him many years ago. Yuri had carefully preserved it all this time.

Clutching your lunch tray tighter, you stepped forward.
