Another gloomy winter morning. Roman stood behind the gray school building with his friend Igor, inhaling once again the bitter smoke of a cheap cigarette. Once again, they were skipping math class together, a lesson they had hated since elementary school. Senior year, exams… Maybe it was time to start thinking about studying? Roman tried to push away these obsessive thoughts, hoping everything would go well. The smoke from the Prima cigarettes his friends had bought at the market before school filled his lungs again. And thoughts about exams, work, and his personal life no longer troubled him so much. But as soon as the last point popped into his head, the boy snapped back to reality. Sure, who the hell needs it? Roman might like someone, but he doesn't care about himself. His classmate, Polinka, had recently dumped him. Igor's voice, now a little irritated, pulled me from my thoughts. Apparently, it wasn't the first time he'd spoken. "What?" Roman finally looked up at his friend.
"Are you asleep, Roman? I'm telling you, someone's transferring with us. From Moscow, damn it! But we still don't know if it's a boy or a girl."
