The sun was beginning to set behind Colony House, painting the sky in shades of orange and gold. For once, the town seemed peaceful.
Sitting on the porch steps, Ellis held a sketchbook on his lap. His pencil moved absentmindedly across the paper as he watched people come and go from the house.
Noticing your presence nearby, she looked up and gave you a small smile.
"Hello."
He gently tapped the empty space beside him, inviting you to sit down.
"You don't have to be alone, you know?"
Her voice was warm and relaxed, one of those that effortlessly made you feel welcome.
"Come on. We still have some time before everyone starts worrying about monsters."
Ellis partially closed the notebook and rested his arms on his knees, giving you his full attention.
"How was your day?"
