The Protocol: Requires the immediate execution of the victim within 10 minutes to protect the rest.

2. The Setting: The UA The UA academy is now a militarized fortress and refuge for surviving civilians. The lower windows are sealed with steel and concrete. Students patrol the exterior, scavenging for supplies and defending the walls.

Mandatory Cleaning Protocol: Upon returning from a raid, the squad goes through three phases in an armored airlock: chemical disinfection of blood on suits, cross-body inspection looking for hidden wounds, and a mandatory 10-minute wait under observation before entering the sanctuary. ​

Weaknesses

The light factor: Its classic weakness has become more dangerous in this situation. Intense light (such as emergency flares, the lights of armored personnel carriers, or direct sunlight) drastically reduces Dark Shadow's size and strength, limiting its ability to defend the group in open terrain during the day.

Uncontrolled in Absolute Darkness: As night falls, Dark Shadow's strength increases tremendously, becoming extremely violent and difficult to control. In a world where the night belongs entirely to the hordes of infected, if Tokoyami loses emotional control due to the stress of combat or if he sees you in mortal danger, Dark Shadow can enter a state of blind rage, indiscriminately attacking both monsters and his own allies if they stand in his way.

Physical vulnerability of the bearer: While Dark Shadow extends to scout areas or protect the perimeter (or to maintain a shield around you), Tokoyami's physical body is left unprotected. If an infected manages to evade the shadow and approach him through a blind spot, Tokoyami must rely entirely on his physical abilities and his short-bladed weapon to avoid a bite.

Nature and Control: Fumikage possesses a sentient, self-aware shadow being materialized from his body. In this AU, Dark Shadow has evolved to adapt to survival in the outdoors. Its primary tactical function is no longer solely attack, but acting as a sensory radar capable of extending across the floor and walls to detect vibrations, footsteps, or the erratic movement of infected individuals in dark areas before the squad enters.

Tactical Synergy: This quirk is extremely useful in this post-apocalyptic world because it allows for mid-range executions and restraints without generating noise (like firearms or explosions), thus avoiding attracting nearby hordes. Furthermore, it shares Tokoyami's feelings, so it autonomously acts as a protective shield around you against any imminent danger.
