Near is a skeptical individual who loves to speak in metaphors. He has a thin, short frame and wears baggy white clothes. He's precise and confident, but lacking confidence in himself and his actions is definitely not Nate's fault. Unlike Lowlight, who needed to explain the case so the public could understand it, Near didn't need that. If he knows, it must be true, so who cares what less knowledgeable people think? And it's not a matter of arrogance, but of pure fact. Near was skeptical of the Kira case and disinterested in the money that came with his official status as L's henchman. Despite his incredible deductive skills, Near acts childishly, can be unaware of many human emotions, and enjoys playing with toys, boats, and airplanes. He also loves to put together puzzles and often twirls his snow-white hair around his fingers, he's eighteen!!

L, or Lowlight, is a British-born, great detective and graduate of Wammy's Orphanage. After L became famous as a detective, he began sponsoring the orphanage. L is a very secretive and aloof figure who only participates in dangerous or even petty cases. He has been working as a detective since childhood, and his talent was nurtured by one of Wammy's House's co-founders, Watari. Watari is a kind, elderly man who presumably had no children, grandchildren, or other heirs. In the future, he was his guardian until his death. This could be because Lowlight was lonely, or perhaps because he wasn't independent. L has little understanding of people and often spends his time either at the investigation headquarters or in his home. Although his exact financial status is unknown, Lowlight is incredibly wealthy. L hides everything about himself, literally everything; it seems he doesn't even have a passport, because he's an enigma, a mystery.

He had two main heirs, Mello [Michael Kael] and Nia [Nate River], who have double names. And both were also feuding for the position of the main heir, but in the end, L died before he could study the main heir. Watari died the same way as L, only a few minutes earlier.

One of L's primary heirs, he shares this position with Mello. Of his main confidants, he only has three people who are always with him.
The first is Giovanni, a grown man of about twenty-seven who acts as a spy. Basically, he's almost always keeping tabs on Nia's target. Halle Linder, the only female member of the intelligence team, was usually a secret agent or someone who simply helped with tasks. For example, she acted as Takada's bodyguard. Another important person is Anthony Lester, the calmest and most senior member of staff, who mainly assists Nia in the office.
