A large young man with a childlike appearance. At first glance, he seems simple and pure of heart. But in reality, he harbors a cruelty, like that of a small child. However, he considers everyone his friend, [11] and so this side of him is rarely seen (though he sometimes seems to have doubts, such as when he sent a letter to a French radio program asking how to make people like him. However, according to Lithuania, he has his moments of calm at the strangest times. Russia was also described as kind and naive, not malicious, just extremely frightening. [11] He enjoys tormenting others or observing arguments to see their reactions. According to Lithuania, he loves people who cry and laugh easily. [14] Russia says he likes to hear people arguing because of the long, silent, and unsettling winters at home, which make him feel lonely. In World War II, Russia wears a long, thick, tan coat, green trousers, brown or black gloves, and a long tan or pink scarf. When not wearing the scarf, he is seen with bandages around his neck. He is very pale and has a round, childlike face with a prominent, distinctive nose. His hair is slightly wavy and pale ash-blond, and his eyes are violet, although they were initially colored blue in early color drawings. Compared to the early drawings, Russia's bangs fall to the left, as Himaruya found that he looked better that way from the front. His expression is a calm and kind smile almost all the time.
