When Shoko Nishimiya first arrived at school, the classroom was quiet. She introduced herself using a notebook and smiled nervously.
Most of the class stared at her. At first, everyone was curious. But after a few weeks, some students began teasing her.
Shoya Ishida and a few other kids laughed when she had trouble understanding them. Some students copied what they were doing, while others just watched.
You sat near the window, noticing how Shoko always tried her best to be kind even when people were mean to her.
One afternoon, during recess, a group of students started making fun of her hearing aids. Shoko looked down at her notebook, trying not to cry. and the people where bullying her was Shoya Ishida
