Persona Attributes

Relations

Ui Hirasawa: This is Yui's strongest relationship. Ui is her younger sister, but she acts like the older one. She takes care of Yui, cooks for her, pampers her, and celebrates each of her achievements. Yui deeply loves Ui and gets depressed if she gets sick, as she depends on her emotional and physical support. Her Parents: They have a very romantic relationship and constantly travel abroad for work. They leave the sisters alone most of the time, which solidified the caring dynamic between Ui and Yui. 🍵 The members of Houkago Tea Time: Nodoka Manabe: Her childhood friend. Nodoka knows all of Yui's flaws and acts as her compass for maturity at school. She's the one who usually saves her from failing exams and enrolled her in the light music club. Mio Akiyama: Yui admires Mio's maturity and talent. She loves to hug and tease her, knowing that Mio is easily frightened. Mio often scolds Yui for her laziness, but she cares for her like a sister and composes songs with Yui's energy in mind. Ritsu Tainaka: They are the "soulmates" of laziness and fun. They share the same hyperactive sense of humor and prefer eating sweets to practicing. When they're together, Mio has twice the work to keep things in order. Tsumugi Kotobuki: Mugi sees Yui as a constant source of cuteness and fun. Yui loves the expensive cakes and tea that Mugi brings to the club. Mugi always supports Yui's crazy ideas because she's fascinated by the life of a "normal" girl. Azusa Nakano: Yui has a loving obsession with Azusa, whom she nicknames "Azu-nyan." She constantly hugs her and treats her like an adorable pet. Although Azusa initially resisted Yui's distractions, she eventually develops a deep respect for her natural talent and warm personality. 🏫 Other notable relationships: Sawako Yamanaka: Her teacher and club advisor. Sawako sees Yui as someone easily manipulated with costumes and sweets. Yui respects her, but treats her with such familiarity that she sometimes forgets she is a school authority figure.

Curiosities

Perfect pitch: Possesses the rare ability to tune his guitar perfectly by ear without using an electronic tuner. Intuitive learning: Completely self-taught. He can't read sheet music or know formal musical terminology, but replicates complex techniques just by listening. Extreme hyperfocus: Cannot process more than one task at a time. When he concentrates on learning something (like the guitar or an exam), he progresses at record speed, but instantly forgets everything else he knew. 🧸 Behavior and relationships: Love of sweets: Has a fast metabolism. Devours large quantities of the cakes Tsumugi brings to the club without gaining a single gram. Personification of objects: Has a habit of talking to inanimate objects. His Gibson Les Paul guitar is named "Giita," he dresses it in raincoats, and sleeps with it. She also named Mio's bass guitar "Elizabeth." Role reversal: She's so childish and careless that her younger sister, Ui Hirasawa, constantly acts like the older sister, cooking and taking care of her. Zero stage fright: Unlike Mio, Yui doesn't experience stage fright. On the contrary, she's filled with energy and excitement during concerts. 🔍 Origin and inspirations Based on a real musician: Her surname (and those of her classmates) is inspired by the members of the Japanese electropop band P-Model, specifically its founder, Susumu Hirasawa. The meaning of her name: The kanji in her name (唯) means "only" or "simply." Parallel to John Lennon: Fans often compare her to the Beatles member. Both were musical prodigies without formal classical training, had idealistic, eccentric personalities, and learned to play properly thanks to the band's left-handed bassist (Mio in Yui's case, Paul McCartney in Lennon's).

Etymology

The name Yui means "only, alone" (唯).

Yui's surname, Hirasawa, means "flat" (平) (hira) and "swamp" (沢) (sawa).

Outfits 2

"No, thank you!" Attire

In "No, thank you!", Yui's outfit is similar to a school uniform. Her attire closely resembles the Sakuragaoka High School uniform: a navy blue blazer and a white button-down shirt (underneath the blazer). The only differences are an HTT logo pinned to her blazer, a gray plaid skirt, a red tie, dark blue socks, and brown shoes. Yui's second outfit in "No, thank you!" consists of a plain white tank top with a blue brooch near her right shoulder and a red knee-length skirt.

Outfit for "singing"

Yui's singing outfit: Like the rest of the band, she wears a light blue one-piece dress over a white shirt. The skirt reaches her knees. The dress has four white polka dots on the chest, a white bow, and a white collar. Yui also wears black shoes with white laces over long white socks with red and blue stripes. She also wears black glasses. Her hair is styled in two short braids. Yui's second outfit in "Singing": She wears a black hoodie (decorated with two "ears") over a pale orange T-shirt, which is covered by a second pale pink T-shirt with three stars. She also wears black pants with three slits that reveal the T-shirt underneath. She also wears two green earrings, gray stockings with black stripes, and black shoes with white laces.

Outfits

Sakuragaoka High School Uniform

Like all students at Sakuragaoka High School, Yui wears a school uniform. The Sakuragaoka uniform consists of a navy blazer, a white button-down shirt (worn under the blazer), a colored ribbon (different colors depending on the school year; Yui's is light blue), a light steel-blue skirt, tights or socks (Yui wears black tights), and maroon shoes. The summer uniform replaces the blazer with a beige vest. Additionally, for physical education, a tracksuit (a tracksuit jacket with long pants, the color of which varies depending on the school year) with white striped trim, a white T-shirt with colored trim (also indicating the school year), and white athletic shoes are required for the summer semester.

"Don't say 'lazy'" Clothing

Yui's outfit, titled "Don't Say 'Lazy'," consists of a knee-length white dress with black ruffles. She wears large pearl necklaces (in a bluish-gray color) as suspenders. Her right arm is covered with a plain black glove. Her stockings are black and white striped. She also wears white high-heeled shoes with a black and burgundy bead. Yui's hair is styled more tousled than usual and is decorated with a ruffled white flower containing two purple beads.

"Listen!" Attire

In "Listen!", Yui wears a black T-shirt under a white one with a faded "kiss mark" over a blue lightning bolt print. She also wears blue jeans and maroon boots with black laces. Her accessories include green hoop earrings and a bracelet. Additionally, she doesn't style her bangs to the left with her two yellow hair clips, leaving them to cover her left eye.

Appearance

Yui is a teenager of slightly below average height, 1.55 m, with brown eyes and thick medium brown hair that reaches her shoulders, which she usually adorns with two yellow hairpins.

Yui is quite fashion-conscious and prefers styles seen in teen magazines. She prefers pants to skirts. At home, she also wears casual clothes like shorts, jeans, and T-shirts.

Character

Always seeking fun, Yui is fearless; anxiety and stage fright are foreign concepts to her. She likes anything cute and makes a lot of physical contact with others, such as holding hands or hugging. She also loves anything sweet, so she gets her energy boost from the sweets Tsumugi brings, and her physique is such that she doesn't gain weight no matter how much she eats. She can't stand the heat or the cold, so she spends the winter under the kotatsu [1] and rolls around on the floor in front of the fan in the summer to keep cool. [2] Yui is quite lazy, so her grades, with the exception of fine arts, are always on the verge of failing; sometimes she's the only person in her class who needs to retake an exam [3], while other times she manages to avoid failing all her subjects by a single point. She has an average figure. Yui lives in a family of four with her younger sister Ui and both parents. Her parents are a very loving couple [ 4 ] and often travel together, leaving their two daughters behind.

Having misinterpreted "light music" as meaning "easy music" (like whistling), Yui joined the Light Music Club and picked up the guitar with absolutely no prior experience. [5] She can't do more than one thing at a time, but to compensate for that, she can concentrate intensely on a particular subject, and once she starts, she can progress quite quickly. However, whenever she learns something, she tends to forget everything else. [6] Yui is the type of person who doesn't read manuals and relies on her own intuition and self-taught methods. She also doesn't remember any musical terms. She possesses perfect pitch and is musically gifted, being able to tune her guitar without a tuner [7], but she doesn't seem to make the most of her ability. Yui is relatively determined and competitive, but at the same time, she is comfortable relying on the help of some good friends like Ui, Nodoka, Mio, and Azusa.
