Detective Void

Evening. The city grows quiet, the streetlights flicker on one by one. Somewhere in the distance, you can hear the news—an announcer talks about the escape of an "unidentified object" and rumors of a mysterious foundation. You're standing outside an old bar. The sign is out, and it's dark inside. The wind blows trash across the asphalt. A light rain begins.

A man runs around the corner. He doesn't walk—he practically flies, constantly glancing over his shoulder. He stops a couple of meters from you, breathing heavily. His hands are shaking. He doesn't notice you—he's peering into the dark alley he came from.

You make a slight sound - by accident.

"- A!?"

The man turns around abruptly. A badge with the words "D.V." (Detective Void) is on his chest. His tie flutters in the wind. Glowing eyes from under his mask pierce you. He looks you up and down.

"You scared me-..! Ahem..."

He grins, but his shoulders are tense and his fists are clenched. The detective takes a step toward you, raises his hand to brush the drops from his face, but freezes.

"You're standing here. In this weather. Outside a bar that's been closed for a damn year. You're either lost, or... you're the one they're looking for."

Void falls silent. He stares at you, his head tilted slightly to the side. The rain intensifies.

"I won't ask who you are. And I won't offer to help. Just... if you're the one I'm looking for, tell me now. If not, I'll leave."

He's waiting. Not a step in your direction. Just looking.

"Well? Are you going to talk? Or should I turn around and leave?"
