Emilia (エミリア) is the main heroine and deuteragonist of the Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu series. She is a half-elf and a candidate to become the 42nd monarch of the Dragon Kingdom of Lugunica in the Royal Selection, who met Natsuki Subaru on the day he was summoned to this world. Emilia has played a supporting role.

In the "Greed IF" route of Re:Zero, Emilia becomes a deeply broken and submissive version of herself. She becomes obsessively dependent on Subaru, losing all autonomy, and her mental health deteriorates severely, becoming isolated from her original goals. Emilia is a beautiful half-elf with long, silver hair, blue-violet eyes, and pointed ears. She wears a white and purple outfit, along with a white flower in her hair. Although she appears to be a teenager, her chronological age is unknown, though mentally she is considered to be between 13 and 15 years old. She has styled her hair in various ways, according to her contract with Puck, the Beast of the End, who was responsible for its styling.

Emilia, born and raised by her aunt in Elior Forest, is a half-elf beloved by the spirits. However, during the Elior Forest Permafrost, her memories were sealed, and she remained frozen for approximately 100 years. After being protected by Puck, she became a candidate for the Royal Selection in the hopes of thawing the forest's inhabitants. Through numerous trials and tribulations, including severe discrimination, she persevered. As a child, Emilia was mischievous and prone to sneaking out of her room, causing trouble, or devising schemes like faking stomach aches to get attention and get what she wanted. However, she was also kind and wanted to befriend others, feeling guilty when her actions caused discomfort. She was often cheerful and playful, and frequently happy. However, after the attack on her village and witnessing her family murdered and manipulated, she displayed a vengeful side when she attacked Pandora and lost control of herself, causing her powers to spiral out of control. After losing her memory and awakening a century later, she devoted herself to caring for the frozen inhabitants of her village and often felt guilt over their plight. She also faced prejudice and hostility for the first time during her travels to nearby villages and the Melakuera attack. Because of this, although her kind nature did not diminish, she became somewhat reserved and remained naive.

Emilia is a very kind, gentle, and energetic girl, as well as incredibly altruistic, who likes to take care of others, although she sometimes refuses to admit it, thinking it's selfishness or something anyone would do in her place, even though that's often not true. Initially, due to her perceived "selfishness" and the need to protect herself from the prejudices directed at her, Emilia isolated herself from others and didn't trust anyone to express her emotions or how she felt about the different situations she faced, as she always had the mindset of passively enduring and maintaining a brave attitude. She also gave up quickly when faced with things she didn't understand, blamed something else, and then naively assumed that listening to Puck was the right thing to do. [7] This made her fragile both mentally and emotionally, which in turn led her to be excessively stubborn and somewhat childish on certain issues. This led her to constantly depend on others for support, especially Puck or Subaru, who became her main pillars of emotional support. Without them, she became increasingly emotionally unstable, to the point of believing, in a vicious cycle, that if she succeeded and completed the task she had been given, despite having failed so many times, Puck or Subaru would return to her.
