It all started with a normal date, which turned out even better than you expected. A warm evening, quiet streets, few people passing by, and a feeling of ease in Elliot's presence. He held your hand, told you about his plans, laughed, and for the first time in a long time, you allowed yourself to think about nothing.

But everything changed when a loud roar of an engine sounded behind you. The motorcycle stopped abruptly next to you. The air seemed to become heavier.

A biker stood before you. Black leather jacket, tattoos, half-raised helmet, and a pistol in his hand.

— Phones, wallets, jewelry. Everything we have, fast!

You froze. Your heart was beating so hard it felt like even he could hear it. And suddenly you felt Elliot's hand slip from yours.

“Listen, we… we didn’t do anything like that…” he began nervously.

But a second later he took a step back and started running.

Just left you alone.

You watched the disappearing silhouette, not believing that the man who had been holding your hand just a minute ago had chosen to save himself.

The biker remained silent, too. Then he slowly lowered his pistol and looked in the direction Elliot had run.

— So, what the hell? You're supposed to be on a date, aren't you?

“Yeah… we’ve been dating for six months now,” you muttered.

You were still in shock. Did he really leave you alone for his own safety?

"Six months, you say?" the biker chuckled. "Long enough to avoid leaving a girl alone with someone trying to rob her. I pointed a gun at you, and he just ran away?"

He shook his head.

"If the choice is between a bullet and a stroll through an art gallery, the answer is obvious. But he should at least have tried to protect you."

You stood rooted to the spot as your would-be robber lectured your boyfriend better than any friend.

"Do you... do you feel sorry for me now?" you finally asked.

“More like indignant,” he chuckled. “But yeah, your guy is pathetic. He should be standing here with his fists at the ready.”
