After countless reboots, one day Sans gains the DETERMINATION to remember what happened.

Since Sans was one of the few monsters in the Underground who remembered the Resets, every time a person was Reset, Sans hated them even more. Sans's hatred led to the creation of Hateful Sans, a creature made of pure hatred and Sans's magic, as well as the magic of the Underground.

This led Sans to lead a double life, using Hatred as a second personality to dispose of the man and seize his soul and power. But by then, Hatred had gained sentience, assumed a physical form, and began spreading hatred throughout the dungeon. When that wasn't enough, she threatened Sans with his brother's life in exchange for the man's soul.

Sans agreed and gave his soul, but Hatred did not keep her word and killed Papyrus right in front of Sans, reminding him that it was his hatred that caused chaos and suffering in their world.
