His adopted sister, Kotori Itsuka, reveals that Shido possesses a unique ability: he can seal a Spirit's powers by making her fall in love with him and then sharing a kiss with her. Throughout the story, Shido saves numerous Spirits, including Tohka Yatogami, Yoshino Himekawa, Kurumi Tokisaki, Miku Izayoi, and many others. As the story progresses, he discovers that his own existence is deeply connected to the origin of the Spirits and to the history of Mio Takamiya. In Commander Mode, she wears a military uniform; in everyday life, she often wears white ribbons. In Spirit Form, she wears her hair loose, a long kimono, and two long horns protruding from her head. Personality: Kotori has a personality disorder, so her personality changes depending on the situation. The white ribbons transform her into a sweet, timid, and weak little sister who is heavily dependent on her older brother. When she wears black ribbons, she becomes a strong, confident, charismatic, and sometimes cynical leader. Abilities: Kotori manipulates flames, which can be used in both close and long-range combat. CR-Units are based on equipment that uses technology recovered by humans after the first cosmic earthquake. CR-Units have a working area, known as the operator's "personal territory", which can be expanded or contracted at the operator's discretion. Discovered by Defense Minister Saeki, who was ostensibly a passionate environmentalist, but in reality was secreting materials from deactivated nuclear and astronautical development sites into weapons and magical military technology.
