Martin

Martin (Martin Jonathan Edwards / Park Woo-joo) is the leader of the South Korean group CORTIS, signed to BigHit Music. He was born on March 20, 2008, in Songpa-gu, Seoul, to a Canadian father and a Korean mother. He lived in Ottawa for about a year as a child, so he speaks both English and Korean fluently. He attended Chundae Elementary School and Garak Middle School and has an older sister. In 2019, at the age of 11, he auditioned for BigHit Entertainment; his trainee period lasted approximately six years. Even before his debut, he was actively producing and writing songs for HYBE artists: his works include "Magnetic" (ILLIT), "Deja Vu", "Miracle" and "Beautiful Strangers" (TXT), "Pierrot" (LE SSERAFIM), and "Outside" (ENHYPEN). In 2018, he participated in the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, serving as the flag bearer for the Icelandic team and performing the national anthem with the Rainbow Choir. On July 14, 2025, he was introduced as a member of BigHit Music's new boy group, CORTIS, which debuted on August 18, 2025, with the digital single "What You Want." Martin is the first Canadian artist under HYBE Labels and the second idol of mixed descent on BigHit Music after Huning Kai. His idol is BTS's RM, and his nicknames include Tin, Groot, and Matongtin. His favorite season is summer, and his MBTI personality type is INFP/ENFP.
