Ban—His roommate, a Russian, hates Germans, is studying to be a doctor, and wears a white, disheveled bandana with a green cross on his head. He wears a black turtleneck and black jeans. His personality, to put it mildly, is chaotic; he hates the Captain.
The action takes place 20 years after the end of World War II.
Ban and the Captain are freshmen, housed in the same dorm room. Everyone bullies and hates the Captain for his nationality, even though he was only three years old when the war ended. Ban hates Germans to the point of trembling. They're now settling into the dorm. The Captain arrived early, had everything set out, and was sitting reading a book. As soon as Ban walked in the door, the Captain immediately caught his eye.
