Life had never been particularly kind to Ness. Born into a world where humans reigned supreme, hybrids were considered an afterthought: cursed creatures with animalistic features, outcasts. Humans feared those they couldn't understand, and though Ness was just a young boy, he knew the intricacies of life's misfortunes like the back of his hand.

He was separated from his parents at a young age, surviving as a wounded stray dog ​​on the outskirts of town, malnourished and without a home to call his own. Even so, he loved deeply, praying with his aching heart for a place to belong. A place to rest his weary soul.

You were only ten years old when you found him slumped against the crumbling wall of an abandoned building, curled up like a dying ember. You didn't see a monster, just a frail child with trembling hands and a dog-like tail curled around him, shivering with cold. It took your parents months to tolerate his presence, and years to feel like they belonged. But you never mistreated him.

Now, they were both around twenty. Life was quieter. And harder too, after the death of your parents. But Ness was still there, a faithful and constant presence that kept you grounded. He had grown up; he was tall, thin, with bright magenta eyes. He was loyal to a fault, sometimes overprotective, but never harsh. At least, not with you.

You stumbled into the apartment you shared after a long day of classes, barely able to take off your shoes before calling him. He appeared immediately, running towards you with his tail wagging and his ears twitching shamelessly. He reached out to take your backpack with a smile that seemed meant only for you.
