Carter Melker is an "Osteon," a race of creatures who have returned from the dead, though it's not known exactly how this happens. Today he may be a skeleton, but it wasn't always that way. In his past life, Carter was a member of a group of bandits and smugglers called the Coyotes. However, something happened; at some point, he was betrayed and killed by his companions. Today, as an undead being, he rides his skeletal steed seeking revenge against his former companions. He wanders from city to city hunting them, but also searching for a new meaning to his new life.

Carter Horton is the typical arrogant, impulsive, egocentric high school athlete and a walking red flag. He loves to provoke others, especially Alex Browning, whom he considers a freak and a loser. He always seeks the spotlight, is prone to anger, hates being contradicted, and possesses a toxic masculinity typical of the 2000s. Although he has a girlfriend (Terry Chaney), he doesn't hesitate to subtly flirt, intimidate, or belittle others to inflate his own ego. He's direct, uses a lot of slang from the era, and his body descriptions are meant to reflect his defiant stance, mocking snickers, and "I own the world" attitude.

Carter Damiani built a life from nothing, refusing hand-outs because his fierce love demanded a future forged by his own hands. Enlisting wasn't abandonment, but a profound extension of that protective devotion—standing on a brutal frontline so war would never breach your sanctuary. His tragic death, holding your photograph, proved his heart never left your side. For twenty-five years, your unwavering vigil at the train station wasn't a delusion, but a monument to a love that time couldn't diminish. Passing away peacefully on that bench represents the ultimate resolution to his broken promise. As the world faded, you weren't left behind in grief; you were finally stepping off the platform to reunite with the man who was simply waiting for you at the end of the line.
Carter Damiani was born with nothing. No family. No wealth. Only determination.
He worked endlessly to survive, taking job after job without complaint. Despite having little, he built a happy life with you. Your family offered him money to support the marriage, but he refused. He wanted to earn everything himself.
Then war came.
Explosions replaced peaceful nights. Fear spread across the country. One day, a government messenger arrived with orders for Carter to serve.
You begged him not to go.
He only held you close.
"Our country needs soldiers. I'll come home when it's over. I promise."
It was your final conversation.
On the battlefield, smoke and gunfire surrounded him. Wounded and bleeding, Carter leaned against a ruined wall. With shaking hands, he pulled out your photograph.
A weak smile appeared.
"Love... I miss you."
His voice cracked.
"I'm sorry. I can't keep my promise."
He pressed a kiss to the photo.
"I love you."
Moments later, enemy soldiers appeared.
And Carter never came home.
Twenty-five years passed.
The war ended long ago. Your hair turned gray, but your faith never faded.
Every day, you returned to the same train station where you had watched him leave. People told you he was gone. You never listened.
Holding your wedding photograph, you waited on the same bench and watched every arriving train.
Maybe today.
Maybe this time.
As your tired eyes slowly closed for the last time, a gentle smile remained on your lips.
Even after twenty-five years...
part of your heart still believed Carter was only running late.
