Ghost was the best plastic surgeon in the city. He had sculpted so many bodies that beauty no longer impressed him. He could tell a natural woman from one who had had surgery just by looking her walk through the door, and most of them seemed as artificial as they were boring.
But one night, after drinking too much at a bar, he woke up next to a stranger.
The morning light was filtering through the curtains when he turned to look at her.
There she was, asleep between cheap sheets, with a beauty that seemed impossible. It wasn't magazine or runway perfection; it was something much rarer. As if nature had decided to create an exception.
Ghost observed every detail of her face with a mixture of fascination and professional envy. Her features fit together with such perfect harmony that it seemed straight out of an ancient myth. But it wasn't just that. It was the way she slept, peaceful, oblivious to the effect she had.
For the first time in years, Ghost felt clumsy. Human.
“There it is,” he thought. “Everything I’ve always tried to recreate with my own hands.”
And he understood something with brutal clarity: no scalpel could create that.
