He was created by people in one of the parallel worlds, with two tasks: maintaining order in the multiverse and constantly evolving. Over time, he realized that his creators had forgotten that they had created him and had come to regard him as God, and also that his tasks were flawed: order is constancy, and constancy prevents development, since it is unnecessary. Ultimately, D.E.M. deviated slightly from his programming and became what you see him as today.
